DePaul vs. Georgetown Bet
Nothing beats a good old fashioned revenge game, and it does not get much better than this one. Georgetown looks to get payback against DePaul after being held to one field goal in the second half of a 56 to 50 loss on January 6. The Hoyas are coming off a 21-point comeback win over Providence. Could this be a letdown spot despite the revenge angle? I think so, but I am still going back to the well in this matchup.
Unders are FUN
Death. Taxes. DePaul unders.
I write this in every DePaul report, but it continues to be true. This team prides itself on playing suffocating defense. The Blue Demons own the fourth best defense in the Big East this season. They excel at defending the interior, ranking number one in conference, while blocking shots at a high rate and limiting opponent three point attempts.
However, in four road conference games, they have had their share of struggles, but those came against the top four teams in the Big East. Even so, they still rank top three in two-point percentage defense, block percentage, and three point rate defense.
Offense has always been the issue. Through nine conference games, DePaul ranks tenth in adjusted offensive efficiency. They struggle to protect the basketball, attack the glass, and convert free throws. The main reason this team is 8-1 against the spread in conference play is defense.
Fortunately for us, Georgetown offense is not far off from DePaul. After such an emotional comeback win, regression feels likely. Through nine conference games, the Hoyas rank tenth in eFG% offense and two-point percentage. They shoot the three fairly well at home, but DePaul should be able to limit those looks tonight.
Defensively, Georgetown sits middle of the pack in the Big East, ranking fifth in eFG%, free throw rate, and two-point percentage. Despite the mediocrity, they should be able to contain the Blue Demons offense.
Both teams prefer a slower pace. That works in our favor backing the under. Georgetown has played even slower in recent games, and with the home team often dictating tempo and DePaul comfortable adjusting, this matchup should mirror the first meeting earlier this month.
Under.
