DePaul heads to Storrs for a tough road test against No. 4 UConn in one of the marquee matchups of the day. The Blue Demons have impressed early in conference play, showing grit and defensive toughness while keeping games competitive. UConn, meanwhile, returns home looking to reassert itself after a mixed stretch that included an overtime win at Providence. This matchup pits DePaul's momentum against UConn's talent and home court edge. The Huskies remain the class of the conference, but DePaul will look to prove it belongs on the same floor in a hostile environment.

DePaul vs. #4 UConn Bet
The second biggest game of the day for Chicago sports fans sees DePaul head to Storrs to take on No. 4 UConn, a team that has been coasting over its last two games. The Blue Demons have made some noise through the early portion of conference play. Can they make an even bigger splash in a rematch against the best team in the conference, or will they fall back to earth? Despite what the spread suggests, this should be an exciting game.
Bounce Back Dogs
Coming off a close game at The Dunk, the Huskies return home to face a DePaul team that has kept things tight against nearly every opponent to open the conference schedule. Well, except for one team, the UConn Huskies. Outside of that matchup, the Blue Demons have opened conference play 4-1 against the spread. The only team to truly put its foot on the gas against them was this UConn squad, and I think that trend continues this weekend.
UConn is coming off cruising past a bad Marquette team and an overtime win against Providence earlier this week. Dan Hurley and his group cannot afford another slip up. The Huskies are far and away the best team in this conference, and DePaul keeping things competitive on the road against St. John's and Villanova does not compare to the hostile environment in Storrs. Haslametrics ranks DePaul 268th in away versus home court metrics. UConn holds the edge in nearly every Haslametrics category, except momentum, where DePaul ranks 101st and the Huskies sit at 289th. The site notes, "DePaul has a sizeable momentum edge here. They come into this contest playing above their norm, while UConn has performed a bit below its own standards recently."
DePaul's Flaws
It is a small sample size, but DePaul's flaws in true road games are worth noting. Through 3 games, the Blue Demons rank bottom 100 in turnover rate offense, 3 point percentage defense, free throw percentage, and free throw rate on both offense and defense. Overall, Bart Torvik has their offense ranked 206th away from home. Head coach Chris Holtmann has emphasized that this team will hang its hat on defense, but it is hard to keep pace with a team that ranks 6th in adjusted defensive efficiency and 49th in offensive efficiency at home when your offense sits in the 200s. That is not a recipe for success against UConn.
On top of that, DePaul is coming off one of the best defensive halves in program history. The Blue Demons held Georgetown to one made field goal in the second half of a 56-50 win on Tuesday, marking their fourth straight victory over the Hoyas under Holtmann. DePaul feels like a team playing above its means, while UConn appears to be playing below its standard. This sets up as the spot where DePaul comes back down to earth and the Huskies get back on track with a statement win.
