#24 Saint Louis vs. St. Bonaventure Bet
Here we have a top 25 matchup going down in New York, as St. Bonaventure hosts No. 24 Saint Louis. It is a battle of saints in the A10. Both teams enter this matchup coming off a win in their previous game. The Billikens have not lost since November 28th, when they fell to Stanford 78 to 77. They are far and away the best team in the A10, and the question becomes whether the Bonnies can keep this one close at home tonight.
Ludicrous Speed
I am not worried about that, because this matchup should be filled with points. Both teams have exceptional offenses that should be able to push this game over 158 points. Saint Louis is one of the fastest teams in the country, ranked 21st on Haslametrics, while St. Bonaventure sits at 213th. That may seem slow, but at home the Bonnies jump from 213th to 149th. If the Billikens want to run, the Bonnies are more than willing to match that pace.
The Bonnies are ranked 79th in adjusted offensive efficiency at home this season. They do an excellent job generating second chance points, they shoot the deep ball at a high rate, and they knock down free throws at nearly a 78% clip. Defensively, however, they have been the worst unit in the conference. At home, they are ranked 322nd in adjusted defensive efficiency. Overall, they sit in the bottom 100 in three-point percentage defense, defensive rebounding, and assist rate defense.
It should come as no shock that Saint Louis owns the No. 1 offense in the A10. What is more surprising is that this is only their seventh game away from home this season, which feels a bit light at this point. Still, in those six road games, they are ranked 58th in eFG% defense, 40th in two-point offense, and 95th in free throw percentage. Through 19 games, the Billikens rank third in eFG% offense and sixth in two-point percentage. This offense should have no trouble scoring against the Bonnies defense.
Saint Louis defense remains solid overall, but they do send opponents to the free throw line at a high rate and they do not force many turnovers. This is a team that wants to outscore its opponents, with defense taking a back seat. I expect the Bonnies to keep pace this evening, as both teams combine to take us over the 158 mark.
