#22 BYU vs. Baylor Bet
We have ourselves an action packed Big 12 matchup tonight, as BYU travels to take on Baylor in a matchup that has intrigue written all over it. The Cougars are coming off a rough stretch, riding a four game losing streak, but they have the tools to snap it. This is the classic spot after the spot, a chance to rebound after tough losses. BYU has shown they can rise to the occasion against quality opponents, while Baylor has struggled against top competition this season. Will the Cougars show up tonight in Waco, or will the Bears hand them their fifth loss of the season?
Bounce Back BYU
I am willing to suck it up and pay the juice for the Cougars to come out on top in this one against the Bears. This spot for BYU is my new favorite look, the spot after the spot. After the Cougars embarrassing upset loss to Oklahoma State, their get right opportunity came at home against No. 3 Houston. BYU lost 77 to 66 as short home underdogs. Now they find themselves as a short road favorite against the Bears. They are riding a four game losing streak and are desperate to get back on track.
Away from home this season, the Cougars have struggled defensively, ranking 270th in eFG% defense. If they can step up on the defensive end this evening, it will be crucial to coming out on top. Their offense can also be shaky on the road. Still, they rank 33rd in adjusted offensive efficiency and two-point percentage. They also attack the glass on both ends at a top 50 rate.
BYU typically plays up to tougher opponents. Through 7 games against top 50 teams, they have maintained a top 50 offense and defense. If they can do that again tonight, this sets up well. Baylor, on the other side, is 2-8 against top 50 teams. Those wins came against West Virginia on January 27 and San Diego State on November 26. In 2026 alone, the Bears are 1-7 against top 50 teams.
In Baylor's 12 home games this season, defense has been the biggest red flag. They have struggled on the defensive glass, ranking outside the top 100 in defensive rebounding. The Bears also rank 228th in three-point percentage defense and 246th in turnover defense. A fun stat to use against home teams is free throw percentage defense, where Baylor ranks 289th. The home crowd has not impacted opponents at the line.
Both teams will try to turn this into a track meet, so defense may be optional. If the Cougars can step up, get key stops, and win the rebounding battle, they should be able to secure their first win since January 24.
