NBA Preview, Odds & Picks for December 5: Cavs, Rockets Look to Extend Win Streaks in Sunday Home Games

Evan Mobley Over 4.5 Assists (+123)

In the second game of today's slate, tipping off at 2:30 ET, the Cleveland Cavaliers host the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

I'll be playing Evan Mobley over on assists in this matchup. His line sits at 4.5, which isn't surprising, but the plus price is the real draw here, along with a strong opportunity for him to clear it.

Mobley has quietly increased his facilitation, averaging five assists per game in January, while on the year he's generating about eight potential assists per contest.

A majority of Mobley's shot attempts come at the rim and from mid-range, areas where Oklahoma City does its best defensive work, ranking first in opponent field goal percentage from both spots. That should cap his scoring chances and increase his opportunities to dish it out, putting him in a strong position to get over 4.5 assists.

Jalen Brunson Under 2.5 3-Pointers (+120)

The southpaw shooter Jalen Brunson could be in for a difficult night from beyond the arc. Brunson and the Knicks host the Dallas Mavericks tonight, a team that ranks first in opponent three-point field goal percentage (33%) and third in three-point shot rate allowed (35.2%).

Brunson is averaging three made threes on 7.7 attempts this season, but over seven games in January, that number has dipped to 2.4 makes on 6.1 attempts. Dallas' biggest defensive weakness is the mid-range area, which just so happens to be where Brunson does his best work. Expect him to live there tonight rather than capitalizing on three-point opportunities.

Keyonte George Under 2.5 3-Pointers (-113)

Our final prop is a fade of the 22-year-old Jazz guard Keyonte George. He draws a tough matchup against a top-tier Spurs defense, which ranks fourth in points per 100 possessions allowed and seventh in effective field goal percentage, so I'm expecting a quieter night.

On the season, George is averaging 2.5 made threes on 6.7 attempts, but that volume has dipped recently. In January, he's averaging fewer than two made threes on just 5.3 attempts per game. He's stayed below this mark in six of nine games this month, and I'm looking for that trend to continue.
