NBA Player Props for Thursday, April 2

julius randle

Julius Randle Under 19.5 Points (-115)

Let's kick things off with our lone fade of the night, as I'll be betting against Julius Randle's scoring output when the Timberwolves take on the Pistons.

These two teams just met on Saturday, with Detroit handling business in Minnesota, winning 109-87.

In that game, Randle shot just 2-for-13 from the field, finishing with 11 points, with seven of those coming from the charity stripe.

I'm not expecting another performance that inefficient, but I also don't see a major bounce-back that gets him over this number.

Randle's shot profile doesn't do him many favors here. About 38% of his attempts come from mid-range, with another 37% coming at the rim.

Detroit is second in opponent field goal percentage allowed at the rim and sits middle of the pack from mid-range. Overall, the Pistons are second in points allowed per 100 possessions, so this sets up as a tough scoring environment.

Plus, now that Anthony Edwards is back, Randle shouldn't have nearly as much room to fire away as he did while Edwards was out.

Jalen Williams Over 3.5 Rebounds (-130)

Thunder vs Cavaliers NBA Predictions, Odds, Props & Picks (1/8)

A regular season MVP battle takes place in Oklahoma City tonight, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder host Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers.

As fun as that matchup will be, I'll have my sights set elsewhere in terms of a betting angle.

I'm going back to the well and grabbing Jalen Williams to collect over 3.5 rebounds this evening.

Since returning to the lineup on March 23, after being out for over a month prior to that, he's grabbed four, three, six and one rebounds, respectively. I've been fortunate to bet on both games in which he cleared 3.5, and I'm expecting tonight to be another one.

His role is trending up. Williams is coming off his highest minute total (29) and most points scored (22) since his return, which is exactly what you want to see. As his minutes increase, so does his involvement across the board, especially on the glass.

This projects as a playoff-type environment. Defenses tighten, shot quality dips and that typically leads to more rebound opportunities.

With his minutes climbing and the game environment working in his favor, Williams is in a strong position to get back over this number.

Darius Garland Over 2.5 3-Pointers (-125)

Darius Garland

Tonight's late game between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers offers a strong nightcap for NBA fans.

The Spurs are coming off a 127-113 win over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday and enter this one as a consensus 3.5-point favorite on the quick turnaround.

My first of two plays focuses on the three-point shooting of Darius Garland, who has now appeared in 13 games with the Clippers since being traded from Cleveland.

During that stretch, Garland is averaging roughly four made threes on eight attempts per game. Before the move, he was shooting 36% from deep, hitting about two triples on six attempts per contest.

San Antonio's defense is strong, but with Victor Wembanyama protecting the rim, teams are often forced to rely more on perimeter looks, which should benefit Garland here.

These teams met a couple weeks ago, and Garland was efficient, finishing with 25 points while knocking down four of nine from beyond the arc.

Victor Wembanyama Over 14.5 Rebounds + Assists (-110)

Speaking of that intimidating presence protecting the rim, let's go ahead and invest in his ability to collect rebounds and dish out dimes tonight.

Wemby is coming off an 18-rebound, three-assist performance on Wednesday night at Golden State, while also pouring in 41 points.

It's hard to go against Wemby in general, given how dominant he is, but it's even more difficult when he's clearly doing a bit of stat padding to strengthen his MVP case.

And, hey, I've got no issues with it – I grabbed his MVP odds before the season, so if he wants to run it up, I'm all for it.

That mindset also translates to his production, which is why I'm targeting his rebounds and assists combination tonight. He could realistically clear this 14.5 line with rebounds alone.

In his last five games, Wemby is averaging 15.8 rebounds and four assists per game.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it – that's my mentality with betting Wemby's overs going forward.
