The two MVP front runners go head to head tonight in Oklahoma. Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets face off against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight; this time on the Thunder's home court.
The last meeting between these two almost resulted in a brawl. Expect a playoff type of intensity tonight and get out your bucket of popcorn; this one's going to be good.

Analysis & Breakdown
Top Two, not Two
The Oklahoma City Thunder are once again the best team in the NBA and sit 3-games in front of second place. Oklahoma City has best defensive rating int he NBA, the 8th best offensive rating and rank first in net rating. They've managed to do this with Shai missing multiple games, Chet Holmgren missing time and with Jaylen Williams spending a majority of his year on the sidelines.
The Thunder have an 8-4 record without Shai this year but he's at the core of everything they do. he's missed just 12 games on the year and looks like the likely favorite to win his second straight MVP Award.
Shai's averaging 31.6 points per game this year and he's shooting a hyper-efficient 54.9% from the field. He's also been better from the perimeter this year, shooting 38.1% from outside and making 1.7 3s per game.
In addition to Shai's great year, Chet's becoming one of the favorites to win this year's Defensive Player of the Year Award. The award likely goes to Victor Wembanyama but it just highlights how good Chet's been on that side of the ball. He's second only to Wemby in total blocks this year and he's got the lowest defensive rating in the NBA (min. 27 MPG).
Oklahoma City is as good as they because they've found a way to be elite on both sides of the ball and Head Coach Mark Daigneault is at the center of that.
The Joker's Escaped Arkham
Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets have had an up and down year. We've seen them contend for a top three spot in the Western Conference and yet we've seen them struggle against other top teams in the NBA. The Nuggets have had a ton of injuries this year and we've got to mention that.
Jokić is currently one missed game from being disqualified for the NBA Awards and both Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun have missed a number of games this year. Peyton Watson was playing at an incredibly high level and now he's in the midst of a hamstring recovery.
Jamal Murray was Denver's latest victim. He tweaked his ankle against the Knicks on Friday and remains questionable for tonight's game. The good news is even if Murray can't go, both Gordon and Braun are back for the Nuggets and Murray's injury isn't as serious as initially thought. He'll remain day to day as he recovers and I think it's likely he sits tonight.
Monday Night's Best Bets
Christian Braun o16.5 P/R (-110) | Lucky Rebel
We're going right Christian Braun in this matchup with Oklahoma City. Braun's played just 28 games this season and his numbers are down across the board. His scoring went from 15.4 points per game to just 10.8 this year. On the glass it's been the same, last year he averaged 5.2 rebounds per game; 4.8 rebounds per game this year.
Some of that's because of the emergence of Peyton Watson but Braun's shooting percentages have dropped significantly this year. He's been in and out of the lineup with injuries and just hasn't been able to establish a rhythm this year like he did last year.
That being said, he's been better over the last couple weeks and tonight he plays a Thunder team he's thrived against. Braun's cleared this line in nine of his last 12 games against Oklahoma City, including last year's second round series.
If you remove the playoff games, Braun's cleared this line in all five regular season meetings; including his 23/8 game from two weeks ago. In these five games Braun is averaging 19.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He's shooting 47.9% from the field and 38.7% from outside.
Lastly, Braun averages 14.6 shot attempts per game in these five games against the Thunder; significantly higher than his season averages. Braun was born in Kansas, played his college basketball at Kansas (KU) and these games against the Thunder are the closest he gets to playing in his hometown.
