Happy Monday. Brand new week on the horizon and with it comes a chance to reset. We had a great week, but Sunday was rough. I've got a few plays in the NBA to try and bring home some units, let's jump straight into it.

VJ Edgecombe

VJ Edgecombe o23.5 PRA (+100) | Lucky Rebel

Let's kick it off with Philadelphia 76ers rookie, VJ Edgecombe. He's been great this year and a big reason why the 76ers still have a chance to get out of the play-in tournament, despite all of their injuries this year. Tyrese Maxey's missed 12 games, Joel Embiid's missed 39 games and Paul George missed 45.

That's a total of 96 missed games from the team's 'Big 3' and they still sit just one game back of the Toronto Raptors for 5th in the Eastern Conference. Philly's had one guy play a majority of their games and that's the rookie VJ.

Edgecombe's averaging 16.1 points per game in his rookie year but he's stuffing the stat sheet with 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He's played a ton of these games without both PG and Embiid but with the Sixers being on the second night of a back to back, I'm expecting them to lean on the rook even more.

Both Embiid and George have yet to play on zero days rest this year, so it was surprising to see them not pop up on the injury report. I still love this, even with a full starting lineup. The Miami Heat play at the highest pace in the NBA, they give up the 2nd most points and 3rd most rebounds.

The one and only time VJ's played the Heat, he dropped 19 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. VJ also sits second on the team in points scored on the fast break and he scores a ton of his points in the paint; both things Miami struggles to defend.

Julius Randle o19.5 Points (-115) | Lucky Rebel

Next, we're going to someone we haven't bet all year; Julius Randle of the Minnesota Timberwolves. I rarely bet on Julius but tonight he's back in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. Randle's played here 15 total times in his career, he's averaging 23.5 points per game, 9.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest.

Since 2018, Randle's played here 12 times and he's scored 20+ points in 11 of the 12 games. He's taking an average of 18.8 shot attempts per game and shooting 50.4% from the field in these games. Randle's averaging 27.0 points per game in these last 12 games and even his 3-point shooting jumps to 41.9%.

The Timberwolves visited the Dallas Mavericks once earlier this year, Randle scored 31 points in that game, shot 57.1% from the field and this was with a full starting lineup. Both Anthony Edwards and Ayo Dosunmu could suit up tonight but that doesn't scare me off this line.

Randle loves playing at home and I'm sure at this point in the year, a home cooked meal goes a long way.

cason wallace

Cason Wallace o1.5 Steals (+125) | Lucky Rebel

For the first time this year, we're going to discuss a defensive prop here. Cason Wallace is tied for 3rd in the NBA in steals per game (2.0) and leads the league in steals off the bench and total steals this year. Wallace has stolen ball 144 times this year despite averaging just 26.8 minutes per game.

Wallace started 57 of 72 games this year for the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he's still averaging well below 30 minutes per game. Ideally, Wallace is the PG for the team's second unit and usually the first man to come off the bench. Injuries put him into a bigger role this year and he's stepped up in a big way.

Last night with the New York Knicks in town, Wallace played just 15 minutes and Oklahoma City went with a very starter heavy lineup. Tonight with the team on the second night of a back to back and facing a Detroit team missing potentially all five starters, I'm expecting Wallace to see a significant increase in minutes.

The Detroit Pistons will be without Cade Cunningham tonight for sure; while Jalen Duren, Duncan Robinson and Tobias Harris are all listed as doubtful. Ausar Thompson is the only starter still questionable to play and with that being the case, I'm expecting more turnovers and even maybe a blowout.

In both cases I'd expect Wallace to play more. Daniss Jenkins has been good for the Pistons but as a starter this year he's averaging 2.9 turnovers per game. He's had 3+ turnovers is six of his last eight starts and tonight he faces a Thunder defense that ranks 2nd in forced turnover rate and 4th in steals per game.
