LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers travel to the Bayou to take on Brandon Ingram and the Pelicans in a Saturday Night Western Conference showdown.

All the talk revolves around LeBron James and getting one step closer to passing Kareem Abdul- Jabaar on the all time scoring list.

He is currently 63 points away from passing Kareem and in New Orleans tonight, he will look to get possibly within one game of the all-time scoring lead.

LeBron is dominating the headlines of Laker games right now, obviously, but beside the King’s chase, this game is a big one for both these teams for their standing in the Western conference.

Battle of the West

All eyes are on LeBron James and his chase of Kareem.

Rightly so.

All Lakers game between now and when he breaks the record are must-see TV.

But there also so much at stake in this game in the Western conference standings.

The Pelicans are 11th and the Lakers are 12th, seperated by a single game.

The Pelicans are on a horrific 10 game losing streak and are desperate to get a win and get back to being in the playoff conversation.

Superstar Zion Williamson is still out, which has proven deadly for the Pelicans but good news is that fellow star Brandon Ingram is back and looks healthy for the back half of the season.

The Pels lost a close one to the Mavs last game but Ingram played his best game so far since returning, dropping 26 points, dishing 7 assists and grabbing 9 boards.

If Ingram can build on that performance today, the Pelicans have a chance to break their streak and get back to winning.

AD Returns

Lost in the LeBron scoring title frenzy is the fact that Anthony Davis is returning to his former team and is back playing great basketball himself.

Davis played well against the Pelicans earlier this season in LA, dropping 20 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.

He is back from his extended period away injured and is back playing the All-Star basketball he was playing before he got injured.

AD will get a chance to have a big performance in his former home to help the Lakers get one step closer to being legit playoff contenders.

Prediction

It is going to be a fun one in the big Easy tonight and I expect a tight game.

The Pelicans are desperate to break their losing streak and while I don’t think that happens tonight, a shift is coming for this team.

But tonight, give me the Lakers to cover as I think it comes down to the wire and LeBron and AD will carry the Lakers over the finish line.
