See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe 2023-24 NBA season continues on Wednesday with another jam-packed schedule of basketball action. While there are plenty of exciting matchups tonight, none are bigger than the Eastern Conference clash between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Celtics are on fire, extending their winning streak to three games with a 114-98 effort against the New York Knicks. The 76ers, meanwhile, are coming off a 132-126 loss to the Indiana Pacers less than 24 hours ago, leaving them in danger of losing back-to-back games for the first time this season.
There’s a good chance that one of these teams will represent the Eastern Conference in the 2023-24 NBA Finals. BetOnline favors Boston at +150 odds to win the conference championship while Philadelphia sits respectably in third (+600).
Without further adieu, let’s dive into my Celtics vs 76ers prediction and best bets, as well as the latest odds and betting trends.

Celtics vs 76ers Prediction & Pick (Nov. 15)
This isn’t the first time this season that these championship contenders — who share matching Eastern Conference-leading 8-2 records — are facing off this season.
The 76ers and Celtics met exactly one week ago at Wells Fargo Center, resulting in a 106-103 victory for Philadelphia. Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid put on a show that night, combining for 52 points, 19 rebounds, and nine assists.
But even though the 76ers have the home-court advantage again tonight, they’re the 5-point underdogs in their barn. One reason behind that could be that they’re likely down two players. Kelly Oubre Jr. has already been ruled out due to last week’s car accident while Nic Batum is questionable after missing last night’s game for personal reasons.
Meanwhile, the Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis is questionable with a knee contusion, but it’s hard to imagine him not suiting up. It doesn’t seem like his injury is serious, meaning it’d take a drastic change to keep him out of the lineup.
Assuming that Porzingis plays, it’s hard not to like a full-powered Celtics squad. Although both sides have been among the NBA’s best teams thus far, Boston has been a bit better than Philadelphia.
Both teams are among the top five offenses, but the C’s hold the defensive edge. The Celtics allow 105.9 (No. 4) PPG compared to the 76ers’ 111.7 PPG clip (T-No. 11). Furthermore, the favorites have only allowed an average of 99.7 points in their last three outings whereas the underdogs gave up 121.3 PPG during that span.
And while the Sixers’ plus-9.5 average scoring margin is impressive, the Celtics even top that by sitting at plus-13.7. Beating teams by an average of five possessions per game is absolutely mind-boggling.
In what could be a potential Eastern Conference Finals preview, I’m siding with the Celtics on the road. The 76ers do a lot of things right, but their declining defense over the last few games raises concerns, especially against a team with as much offensive talent as Boston.
I’m also taking the Celtics to cover the spread. For starters, the 76ers were just in action last night and have played three games in the last five days, so I expect fatigue to be a factor. On top of that, Boston is 5-2 ATS in its last seven trips to Wells Fargo Center.
As long as they stick to the game plan, the C’s can win this by a few possessions.
Celtics vs 76ers Prediction: BOS wins
Best Bet: BOS -5 (-110 on BetOnline)
Celtics vs 76ers Best Player Prop
As for the best Celtics vs. 76ers player prop, I like the Under on Joel Embiid’s 31.5-point total.
Embiid has been on fire lately, averaging 36.8 points in his last five games, but streaks don’t last forever. For starters, the Celtics are allowing the seventh-fewest points to centers this season, holding the position to a 20.0 PPG clip.
Secondly, Embiid is only averaging 25.7 points in his last seven meetings with Boston, finishing with the Under on the prop five times — including in each of the last three. After only scoring 27 points against the Celtics last week, the Under is the right pick.
Bet: Joel Embiid u31.5 Points (-110 on BetOnline)
