Riding a hitless streak dating back to July 11 against the Cubs, Jasson Dominguez is more than due for a big one. After taking a day off last night, the Yankees young stud should be out there this evening against Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt. Especially with how well he has been playing on the road and against right-handed pitchers, sporting a .265 average, .772 OPS, and 112 wRC+ in those spots.
Dominguez vs. Bassitt
Bassitt enters today with one of the worst pitcher ratings on the slate, carrying poorly-rated matchup numbers in wOBA, ISO, hard contact, and ground ball percentage. He has allowed nearly 40% hard contact over the last three seasons. Left-handed hitters are batting .305 with a .488 SLG and .852 OPS against him this year. At home overall, hitters are batting .271 with a .390 SLG and .316 wOBA.
The Blue Jays right-hander leans heavily on his sinker, throwing it 41% of the time. Dominguez is crushing that pitch, batting .323 with a .927 OPS and 151 wRC+. Curveballs are Bassitt's best weapon, thrown 17% of the time, but the switch-hitting Yankee has held his own there too — batting .303 with a .899 OPS and 158 wRC+. Against the rest of Bassitt's arsenal, Dominguez has found success, and I think that continues tonight in Toronto.
If you are interested in paying some juice on his hits, runs, RBI prop, I do not think that is a bad look with a guy like Dominguez. However, I think +150 is serious value, and I will be all over the bounce-back train with him this evening.
