What an unbelievable, thrilling start to the series! We're heading back to the Game 1 victor and taking their first five innings spread at -0.5, even money.
They will face Yankees starter Carlos Rodon, one of the most inconsistent pitchers in New York's rotation. According to Batters-Box.com, Rodon has struggled in day games, with low marks in matchup wOBA, ISO, hard contact, and ground-ball percentages, though his strikeout rate is above average. Today, he's up against three elite-rated Dodgers hitters. This postseason, the Yankees' left-hander has posted a 4.40 ERA, allowing 7 runs over 14.1 innings. While he seemed to find his stride after a rough start against Kansas City in the ALDS, advanced analytics suggest a tougher road here. And this isn't an AL Central team—this is the Dodgers.
On the flip side, Los Angeles is starting Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who has an elite rating for today. He's posted similar postseason numbers to Rodon, with a sub-five ERA and 7 runs allowed over three starts. But the Dodgers have won every game he's pitched this postseason, each by at least two runs.
I'm betting the Dodgers can keep their momentum rolling at home. They seem to have a little more juice than the Yankees right now. Give me Los Angeles at plus money to win the first five.
