Devers faces Zac Gallen, who carries a poor rating on Batters-Box's current season board, along with weak matchup metrics in wOBA and ISO. At home this season, right-handed Gallen has allowed left-handed hitters to bat .312 with a .409 OBP and .495 SLG.
Gallen leans on his fastball nearly 50% of the time—it is his best pitch out of five. However, nearly 40% of his remaining arsenal sits below league average. Devers this season against fastballs owns a 1.1 run value per 100 pitches, a .387 batting average, .921 OPS, and a 169 wRC+. The rest of the pitches, Devers has also had a ton of success against.
Across 151 elite ratings on Batters-Box over the last three seasons, Devers records a hit 68% of the time, two hits 33%, and clears this prop 46% of the time.
With opponents hitting .271 against Gallen at home, Devers coming off an 0-for-4 night, and the matchup looking far better than it did last night—this play is a go.
