Dodgers vs. Rockies: There are certain spots you do not overthink, and this is one of them. The Dodgers are red-hot and heading into the most hitter-friendly environment in baseball. With a struggling rookie on the mound for Colorado, everything lines up for another explosion at Coors Field.

Death. Taxes. Back the best offense in baseball at Coors Field. The Dodgers enter today with the highest-rated offense according to Batters-Box, featuring five elite-rated hitters. They have no one rated poorly, and only three hitters sit above league averages in strikeout and ground ball rates. Los Angeles holds an average hitter matchup rating of 0.501. The next closest team? The Yankees at 0.466.
These are real numbers?
Today, they face Rockies starter Chase Dollander, who has struggled tremendously at home this season. He carries a 9.58 ERA and a .341 opponent batting average at Coors. The young right-hander has a poor pitching rating today, along with below-average numbers in matchup wOBA, ISO, hard contact, and ground ball percentage. He's giving up 44% hard contact to opponents.
So far this season, Dollander is allowing 5.0 runs, 6.5 hits, and 1.6 home runs per home start. Opponents have cleared this prop in four of his five starts at Coors. The only team that failed to score four runs in the first five innings was the Braves on April 30. Overall, opponents have scored four or more runs in six of his 12 starts — only two of those came on the road. When starting at home, opponents are slashing .341/.408/.626 with a .440 wOBA.
The Dodgers have been one of the best first-five scoring teams in baseball, averaging nearly 3.0 runs. On the road, they dip slightly to 2.67. Fortunately for them, the Rockies are giving up nearly 5.0 runs in the first five innings at home. To make matters worse, Colorado is allowing 3.58 runs in just the first four innings at home. It is wild how consistently teams are producing at Coors this season.
Four runs in the first five may sound like a lot — until you look at the numbers. No, I am not worried about how this lineup will perform after putting up nine runs last night. They are in Coors.
