Pete Alonso has been quiet over the past few weeks, but he is slowly starting to turn things around. After back-to-back games with just a single and no multi-hit effort since Saturday, he feels due for a breakout. Tonight might be the night, and that is why we are backing his total bases prop.
At home in elite-rated matchups, Alonso has been a machine. In 29 elite-rated spots at Citi Field, he has hit safely 75% of the time, with 34% resulting in multi-hit efforts. He has gone over 1.5 total bases in 58% of those matchups, and 27% of them have ended with a home run. The profile is strong, and when Alonso is in rhythm, the results tend to follow.
He will face Grant Holmes, who enters with a 4.58 road ERA and has struggled to keep hard contact in check—allowing it at a 46% clip. Right-handed hitters at home have done serious damage, posting a .242 batting average, .338 OBP, .565 slugging percentage, and a .386 wOBA against him.
Alonso matches up well against Holmes' entire arsenal, and with the power bat due and the numbers lining up, this is a prime spot to back the Mets slugger.
