The historical Tropicana Las Vegas Casino & Hotel has recently had its final time in the Las Vegas skyline as it was imploded last October 9, 2024, but its spirit lives on with the Tropicana Online Casino. It took 1,700 pounds of explosives for the 23-storey towers to crumble within 22 seconds after an eight-minute fireworks and aerial drone display.
As the dust settled on the location of the iconic hotel and casino, the drones transformed the Tropicana trademark into logos of Bally’s Corp., which operated the resort, and the Oakland Athletics, which is planning a $1.5 billion, 33,000-seat baseball stadium for 9 acres of the 35-acre site.
Tropicana Online Casino Teaming Up with Caesars Digital
While the physical location of the Tropicana Las Vegas Casino & Hotel is now gone, it still hasn’t stopped establishing its presence in the digital space. The Tropicana Online Casino has been running its operations and is readily available on New Jersey online casinos and Pennsylvania casino markets, respectively.
Tropicana has a storied past with New Jersey as far as creating its online casino foothold. Its first time to go online was back in 2013, and in 2022, the app switched platform providers and relaunched in New Jersey in March last year. In April 2023, Caesars launched a revamped Tropicana Online Casino in Pennsylvania.
This is a partnership between Caesars Digital, who has been utilizing the “multi-brand” approach when it comes to attracting as many players in as many markets as possible by offering them the best US online real money casinos.
The Tropicana Online Casino app offers a myriad of popular online casino games, from slots to classic and modern blackjack and baccarat titles, as well as progressive jackpot games and roulette options.
Caesar Digital’s Other Multi-Brand Online Casino Launches
Caesar Digital’s latest online casino release is the Horseshoe Online Casino brand in Michigan. According to Matt Sunderland, senior vice-president and chief igaming officer at Caesars Digital, the Horseshoe brand is anchored by a promise to put the player first,
“A brand with such a storied past deserves an online equivalent that pays respect to the legacy it has established in gaming and that is what we’ve created with Horseshoe Online Casino. This launch reinforces our multi-brand online casino strategy by seamlessly bringing another one of our world-class Caesars brands into the palms of players’ hands,” Sunderland added.
The Horseshoe Casino has had its roots in the Las Vegas Strip for over 51 years. It was first owned by MGM and named the MGM Grand, until it was then owned by Bally’s, and eventually bought by Caesars.
Once Caesars’ got the rights, they began the renovation and rebranding of the Horseshoe Casino in 2022. This was in honor of the original Binion’s Horseshoe. Binion’s closed in 2009 after opening in 1951.
The Tropicana Online Casino joins Caesar Digital’s robust list of the best US online casinos that include Caesars Sportsbook & Online Casino, Caesars Palace Online Casino, Harrah’s Online Casino, Tropicana Online Casino and WSOP.com brands.
A Quick Look Back at the Tropicana
Established in 1957, the Tropicana Casino Resort was the first go-to attraction on the Las Vegas Strip. Also referred to as the “Tiffany of the Strip,” because of its opulence and South Beach-inspired architecture, the Tropicana drew in the who’s-who of the time.
This included celebrities such as Sammy Davis Jr. and Elizabeth Taylor, who came to watch headliners including Jayne Mansfield and Taylor’s fiancée, Eddie Fisher.
As the decades rolled in, so did the Tropicana’s attempts to improve its reputation as one of the best US casinos. The original Nevada casino and hotel underwent major changes and renovations, and its owners.
Most notably, the Tropicana was known to have ties to organized crime through mobster Frank Costello as well as the Civella crime family of Kansas City. These mob tie-ins were the inspiration for the 1995 hit film Casino, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone.
The implosion of the Tropicana was the 14th one done on the Las Vegas Strip. Before the Tiffany of the Strip was taken down, the most recent building that was reduced to rubble was the Riviera back in 2016.
