NY Sportsbook Revenue Surges to $63.3M in NFL Week 6

industry

New York sportsbooks enjoyed their strongest week of the 2026 NFL season, generating $63.3 million in gross gaming revenue.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported $615.1 million in wagers for the week ending October 18. That produced a 10.3% hold, marking the first double-digit result of the current NFL campaign.

The revenue total increased 21.4% from the previous week's $52.1 million. Meanwhile, betting volume climbed 5.8%, delivering the state's fifth-largest weekly handle since mobile sports betting launched.

The figures highlight the continued strength of New York gambling as football betting drives activity across the country's largest regulated sports wagering market.

NFL Results Helped Lift Sportsbook Revenue

The latest figures followed four consecutive weeks in which New York sportsbooks generated less than $50 million in weekly revenue. The Week 6 rebound coincided with several NFL favorites failing to cover the spread.

Eight favorites failed to cover during the reporting period, including the Buffalo Bills. These results can benefit sportsbooks when bettors back favored teams and those teams fail to meet expectations.

Nevertheless, weekly hold can fluctuate considerably based on game outcomes and betting patterns. A strong revenue week does not necessarily indicate a lasting improvement in operator profitability.

The latest results also compare favorably with the same period in 2025. New York sportsbooks accepted $564.3 million in wagers and generated $32.5 million in revenue during the comparable week. This year's handle increased approximately 9%, while gross revenue nearly doubled.

FanDuel and DraftKings Lead New York Sportsbooks

FanDuel topped the market with $27.3 million in gross revenue from $226.5 million in wagers. Its 12.1% hold accounted for approximately 43% of statewide sportsbook revenue during the reporting period.

DraftKings followed with $20.9 million in revenue from $208.5 million in wagers, producing a 10% hold. Both operators therefore surpassed the statewide average as bettors navigated a busy NFL schedule.

Fanatics generated $5.8 million from $68.4 million in wagers, while BetMGM recorded $4.1 million from $53.2 million. Caesars added $3.1 million in revenue from $37.5 million in bets.

However, the smaller operators produced some of the week's highest hold percentages. TheScore Bet recorded a 15% hold on $7.9 million in wagers, while Bally Bet reached 14% on $2.5 million. BetRivers posted a 5.7% hold, the lowest among the eight operators.

New York Sports Betting Revenue and Tax Contributions

New York's mobile sports betting market also remains a major source of state revenue. The state applies a 51% tax rate to mobile sports wagering gross gaming revenue.

Based on that rate, the latest $63.3 million week implies approximately $32.3 million in state tax revenue. The estimate illustrates how strong sportsbook results can contribute to public finances, although actual collections depend on the state's accounting and reporting practices.

The commission's broader fiscal-year figures reveal a more mixed picture. Through the first 30 weeks of fiscal 2026-27, mobile sportsbooks recorded $14.80 billion in handle and $1.31 billion in gross revenue. Handle rose 6.2% year over year, but revenue slipped approximately 1%.

Consequently, higher wagering volume has not translated into equivalent revenue growth across the market. Weekly results remain sensitive to the outcomes of sporting events and the share of wagers sportsbooks retain.

NBA Season Could Sustain Betting Activity Through Winter

Basketball attracted more than $9 billion in New York mobile wagers during 2025, according to State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. As the NBA season progresses, NBA odds could sustain betting interest alongside NFL odds, with marquee games and the postseason approaching.

However, higher wagering volume does not guarantee stronger sportsbook revenue. Sportsbook profitability remains tied to game outcomes, as seen during major events like the 2026 NBA Finals, where heavy public betting on top contenders can swing weekly operator margins.

As football and basketball overlap, New York operators will look to maintain wagering demand while managing the impact of unpredictable results.

New York Sportsbooks Face a Busy End to 2026

New York's latest revenue report shows that the state's sports betting market remains highly active as the NFL season advances. The $63.3 million result marked a significant weekly rebound, with FanDuel and DraftKings accounting for most of the revenue.

The coming months could keep betting activity elevated as football and basketball compete for attention. Nevertheless, the state's longer-term figures show that handle growth alone cannot guarantee higher gross revenue.

For New York gambling, the key question will be whether the overlapping NFL and NBA calendars sustain wagering demand while producing favorable sportsbook margins.

The figures highlight the continued strength of New York gambling and offer insight into the performance of US online sportsbooks during the NFL season.
