NorthStar Gaming has appointed Corey Goodman as its permanent chief executive officer. The company previously appointed Goodman as interim CEO in December 2025.
His permanent appointment comes as NorthStar works through significant financial and operational challenges. The company continues to prioritize its outstanding audits and financial reporting.
"On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to confirm Mr. Goodman as NorthStar's chief executive officer," said NorthStar chair Dean MacDonald.
"Corey has brought focus and discipline to the company at a pivotal time," MacDonald added. "The Board has full confidence in his leadership as NorthStar completes its outstanding financial reporting and continues to strengthen the business."
Goodman Takes Permanent Leadership Role
Goodman has guided NorthStar through a period of financial stabilization since becoming interim CEO. His permanent appointment now gives the company greater leadership continuity.
NorthStar expects Goodman to maintain its focus on strengthening operations and addressing its financial reporting requirements.
The appointment also comes as Canada gambling continues to evolve across regulated provincial markets. NorthStar operates primarily in Ontario, where the company runs its NorthStar Bets platform.
The company therefore faces both operational challenges and opportunities within the Canadian market.
NorthStar Reshuffles Its Finance Team
The CEO appointment coincides with a significant change within NorthStar's finance department. CFO Chin Dhushenthen resigned from his position on August 17.
Dhushenthen will remain involved as an adviser while NorthStar completes its outstanding audits. His continued involvement should provide additional continuity during the transition.
"I want to thank Chin for his contributions to NorthStar and for his continued support through the completion of our audits," said Goodman.
"Chin has agreed to remain engaged in an advisory capacity, which will provide continuity as our auditors complete their work."
NorthStar has appointed Ben Powell as interim CFO. Powell brings experience in financial planning and capital markets to the role.
The company has also hired a consulting Chartered Professional Accountant. This move will strengthen its finance and accounting functions.
Compliance Leadership Also Strengthens
NorthStar has also appointed Krisztina Kalla as its new Vice President of Compliance. Kalla brings legal, compliance, and regulatory experience to the position.
Her appointment adds further support as NorthStar strengthens its internal compliance structure. That work remains important as Ontario gambling continues to develop under a regulated framework.
"I am also pleased to welcome Ben and Krisztina to their new roles," Goodman said.
"I am confident that the strengthened finance and compliance functions will serve the company well as we move forward."
Alberta Expansion Remains on Hold
NorthStar also has ambitions within Alberta gambling, although expansion remains secondary for now. Alberta launched its regulated iGaming market on July 13, 2026.
NorthStar was not listed as an AGLC registrant as of August 18. Goodman has indicated that Alberta remains a market of interest for the company.
Still, NorthStar will focus on completing its audits and strengthening its Ontario business first. The company has not provided a specific timeline for an Alberta launch.
For now, Goodman faces a clear mandate. He must stabilize NorthStar's operations, complete its financial reporting, and strengthen its management team.
If the company achieves those goals, it could revisit expansion opportunities across Canada's growing regulated iGaming market.
