New Jersey gambling continued its historic run in 2025, with total revenue nearing the $7 billion mark. The state's regulated market benefited from strong digital performance and steady land-based growth.
Notably, iGaming emerged as the primary growth engine, posting double-digit gains throughout the year. As a result, New Jersey further cemented its leadership position among major US gaming jurisdictions.
The latest data also highlighted how US online casinos and US online sportsbooks platforms reshaped the state's revenue mix. Meanwhile, Atlantic City casinos maintained relevance despite increasing online competition.
Together, these factors drove New Jersey gambling to its strongest annual performance on record.
New Jersey Gambling Revenue Climbs Toward $7 Billion in 2025
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released another impressive monthly report in December 2025. Total gaming revenue reached $605.6 million during the month, reflecting continued market momentum. That figure represented a 15.9% increase compared to the $522.6 million recorded in December 2024.
For the full 2025 calendar year, statewide gaming revenue climbed to $6.98 billion.
This total marked a 10.8% increase from 2024, setting a new benchmark for New Jersey gambling.
Notably, online platforms again played a decisive role, while in-person casinos also delivered modest gains. Industry analysts pointed to market maturity and product diversity as drivers of sustainable growth.
Furthermore, consistent regulatory oversight helped maintain consumer confidence across verticals.
iGaming Market Leads New Jersey's Record-Breaking Performance
New Jersey's iGaming market once again led the state's revenue growth in 2025. Internet gaming produced $273.2 million in revenue during December alone. That monthly total reflected a robust 19.8% year-over-year increase.
For the full year, online casino gaming generated $2.91 billion in revenue. This performance represented a 22.0% improvement over 2024's $2.39 billion result. Slots, table games, and live dealer products all contributed to sustained player engagement.
As a result, the US online casino segment continued expanding faster than any other gaming vertical. Operators also invested heavily in technology, promotions, and responsible gaming tools.
Online Sportsbooks Finish 2025 With Solid Gains
New Jersey's online sportsbooks also closed 2025 on a positive note. Gross sports wagering revenue reached $116.3 million in December. That figure climbed sharply from the $62.8 million posted during December 2024.
For the full year, sportsbooks generated $1.18 billion in total revenue. This result marked a 7.5% increase compared to the prior year.
December's revenue included both online and retail wagering activity statewide. Bettors placed $1.06 billion in wagers during the month. That handle produced a hold rate near 11%.
For 2025 overall, sportsbooks handled approximately $12.2 billion in bets. Parlays played a major role, finishing the year with a 19.2% hold. Other sports produced lower holds across team sports such as the NFL, NBA, MLB, and more.
Experts Say iGaming and Casinos Can Thrive Together
Regulators emphasized that digital growth did not come at the expense of Atlantic City casinos.
Casino Control Commission Chairman James T. Plousis highlighted this balance.
"Internet gaming win set a monthly record in December," Plousis said. "For the first time, annual internet gaming win exceeded in-person casino win."
He also noted continued improvement for land-based properties. "Atlantic City's annual casino win grew 2.7% compared to 2024," Plousis said. "That marked its best result since 2012."
Plousis stressed broader statewide benefits from gaming expansion. "A successful gaming industry benefits all of New Jersey," he said.
Gaming-funded programs for seniors and disabled residents exceeded $800 million in 2025. That total reflected a 33% increase from 2024.
Overall, gaming taxes surpassed $1 billion statewide. Those results underscored how digital and in-person gaming can succeed together.
