After opening the 2022 Indian Premier League season with a big win, the Rajasthan Royals will be aiming to make it two wins in two games as they take on the Mumbai Indians on Saturday. MI, the competition's most successful team with five titles, started their season with a defeat to the Delhi Capitals, but they are still one of the top title favorites for this season despite their losing start.
This matchup at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai is a showdown between two of the main expected contenders for this season's crown.
Odds to Win the 2022 IPL
Delhi Capitals +500
Mumbai Indians +500
Kolkata Knight Riders +600
Royal Challengers Bangalore +650
Rajasthan Royals +650
Punjab Kings +700
Gujarat Titans +850
Chennai Super Kings +1100

Sunrisers Hyderabad +2200
RR opened the new campaign on Tuesday with a resounding win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Royals captain Sanju Samson led the way with 55 runs off of 27 balls as the team posted a formidable total of 210 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Sunrisers never stood a chance in their chase after Kane Williamson was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the second over, and they had already lost five wickets before they reached the 40-run mark. SRH made the final outcome a little more respectable in the final ten overs, but RR coasted to a 61-run win in the end.
MI had a less auspicious start to their season, however, in last Sunday's matchup with Delhi. Mumbai posted 177 runs for the loss of five wickets, led by Ishan Kishan's 81 off of 48 balls.
But it would prove to not be enough, as the Capitals chased down their target with ten balls and four wickets to spare. Murugan Ashwin took two wickets for just 14 runs in his four overs, but the rest of MI's bowlers left a little something to be desired, including Jasprit Bumrah.
It is still early enough in the season for such performances and results to not be catastrophic, but MI will be eager to avoid falling into an early 0-2 hole.
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson led the way in the team's season-opening win over Sunrisers Hyderabad by scoring 55 runs in just 27 balls.

Will the Chasing Team Win Again at DY Patil Stadium?
There can often be an advantage to batting first in cricket, as you can set a target and put the other team under pressure. That didn't work out so well for MI against the Capitals, but don't look for that to dissuade such a talented team.
That said, they might be better off doing the chasing this time around. This match will be third this season at DY Patil Stadium, and if things go as they did in the first two matches, the chasing team will be victorious.
In the first match there, which was between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings last Sunday, saw RCB post a total of 205 for 2 but come out on the losing end after Punjab chased down the target of 206 with a full over to spare.
The second match at the venue also featured RCB, who took on the Kolkata Knight Riders there on Wednesday. KKR batted first, but an excellent bowling performance by RCB saw the Knight Riders skittled out for only 128. RCB made a real mess of their chase, losing three early wickets and three more late in their innings. But in the end, they successfully chased down the target of 129 with four balls and three wickets to spare.
The results at DY Patil Stadium mirror the results elsewhere thus far in the new IPL season. Heading into today's match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, the chasing team has won six of the season's first seven matches. The one exception is RR's resounding win over SRH.
MI vs. RR Prediction & Betting Tips
While no one likes to open the season with a loss, Mumbai's record in that area is equal parts alarming and amusing. The last time they started the season with a win was 2012.
There's only so much you can take from trends like these when personnel changes from year to year, but things have turned out well in the team's second game more often than not.
2013: won
2014: lost
2015: lost
2016: won
2017: won
2018: lost
2019: won
2020: won
2021: won
What will be the result for MI's second game in 2022? So far, of the four teams who have already played two matches (prior to today's match between KKR and PBKS), three lost their first match, and two of those teams won their second match. The other lost only because two of the teams played each other.as the Super Giants, who lost their first match, played the Super Kings, who also lost their first match.
On the flip side, KKR, who opened their season with a win, lost their second match. So, from that small sample, things are favorable for MI getting in the win column for the first time this season come tomorrow evening.
