ELK Studios Now Operating in Ontario

ELK Studios, a well-known Swedish-based online casino games provider, has officially entered the Canadian market with their operations in Ontario. This latest development is a huge milestone for the company, given they've secured UK and Malta licenses. Acquiring a Canadian license lets them operate in North America, expanding their reach into the online casino Canada market.

ELK Studios Enter the Canadian Market

Many online casino operators and providers have been trying to enter the Canadian online casino industry since its 2022 inception. The Canadian gaming market has established itself to be one of the more lucrative markets for iGaming.

Going into the numbers, online casino gambling was responsible for 85% of the total betting handle in February 2025. The betting handle also accounts for money taken for sports betting. Moreover, online casino bets also made up 76% of revenue for the region in the same period.

Revenue in the Canadian iGaming market has been regularly increasing lately, and the region is showing strong growth. February 2025 saw Ontario dealt with $6.1 billion in wagers, up from the previous year. 

Gross iGaming revenue of $213.8 million, which is down on the previous month, but January was a record month. More importantly, studies have shown that figures are up around 30% year on year, which indicates the strong market growth.

Canada's Online Casino Industry Continues to Grow

ELK Studios is the latest online casino operator or provider to enter the Canadian iGaming market. Other European companies have been approved by the Canadian regulating body to let them operate within the region.

Earlier this year, RubyPlay, Finnish Lottery subsidiary Fennica Gaming and Evoplay received their license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
