Golfer Matt Wallace sets up nicely for this week's Wyndham Championship.

The PGA TOUR heads to Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship as the golf calendar winds down. There are only a couple more tournaments before the FedEx Cup playoffs, and this should be an eventful stop. For some, it's one last tune-up, but for a lot of players, this is effectively the big one. Depending on where they sit in the FedEx Cup standings, this will be the last event of their season if they don't rank high enough to get into the dance. Before we move on, check out the action at our top online sportsbooks.

Wyndham Championship Picks & Betting Odds

This isn't the strongest field we've seen all year, which opens the door for many to make some noise. As always, we'll lean on the Lucky Rebel odds board and build a card around each‑way placement markets.

Sedgefield Country Club Course Information

Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, is a classic Donald Ross design and longtime home of the Wyndham Championship. It plays as a par 70 at 7,131 yards and tends to be fairly easy by PGA TOUR standards, with plenty of birdies and low scores on Bermudagrass greens.

Recent winners at Sedgefield:

  • Cameron Young (−22)

  • Aaron Rai (−18)

  • Lucas Glover (−20)

  • Tom Kim (−20)

It's a positional track where driving accuracy, approach play, and confidence on Bermuda are critical. You'll see a lot of less‑than‑driver tee shots, wedges and middle irons.

If you're just getting into golf betting, here's how to bet on golf.

Wyndham Championship Picks and Best Bets

Quick note on structure: the numbers in each header are the Lucky Rebel win odds. My main stakes go on these each‑way placement bets listed underneath them. This week I have one outright in Ryan Gerard, and some bigger E/W numbers, which allows me to cast a wider net.

Here are my Wyndham Championship picks:

  • Ryan Gerard +3000 Outright

  • Aaron Rai +5500, E/W 3 places

  • Davis Thompson +6600, E/W 3 places

  • Mac Meissner +7500, E/W 3 places

  • Sungjae Im +4500, E/W 5 places and +7500, E/W 3 places

  • Matt Wallace +11000, E/W 3 places

  • Billy Horschel +7500, E/W 10 places and +16000, E/W 3 places

Ryan Gerard +3000 — Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Ryan Gerard

Best Bet: +3000 Outright

We'll start near the top. Gerard has been one of the more impressive risers over the last couple of months — always a strong ball‑striker, but lately the putter is what's driving his ceiling. Since right after the PGA Championship at the end of May, he hasn't lost strokes putting, a massive development for a player whose flat stick used to be the weak link.

Gerard cycled through different putters and made a caddie change around the PGA, and whatever the current recipe is, it's working. Now the putter is a weapon instead of an Achilles' heel. He ranks second in my model this week thanks to a combination of accuracy off the tee and excellent approach play, and he's coming off two straight top‑10 finishes plus a solo second at the Memorial in June. Those recent results span very different setups — the Open Championship and the Rocket Classic — so he's proving that his game travels.

His two past appearances at the Wyndham were forgettable; he missed the cut both times and lost a ton of strokes putting. Given the way his putting profile has flipped, I'm not overly concerned about that history. Gerard is a one‑time PGA TOUR winner who looks like he's ascending at the right time, with a legitimate chance to turn this into win No. 2 on a track that rewards his strengths.

Aaron Rai +5500 — Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Aaron Rai

Best Bet: +5500, E/W 3 places

If you could design a course for Aaron Rai, Sedgefield would be near the top of the list. Rai is the definition of a plotter. He's short and surgical off the tee and on approach, more about precision than power. He's one of the most accurate drivers of the golf ball on TOUR, which is a huge plus here where keeping it in the fairway sets up everything.

Across his recent Wyndham starts, Rai has shown both sides of the variance with two missed cuts and two outstanding finishes: a win at Sedgefield and a T5 in the last two years. In those strong appearances, he gained massive strokes on approach and looked extremely comfortable picking this place apart. His putter doesn't need to spike; if it hovers around neutral and the irons are as sharp as they've been, he'll contend again.

He's also talked this week about how much he enjoys Donald Ross tracks, similar to the PGA Championship venue he won on earlier this season. I'm not worried about his last two starts at the Scottish Open and the Open Championship — venues he never really played well at — and he took some time off heading into Greensboro. This looks like a good rebound spot for a tactician who fits Sedgefield as well as anyone.

Davis Thompson +6600 — Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Best Bet: +6600, E/W 3 places

Thompson ranks top‑5 in my model this week and has quietly built a very solid history at Sedgefield: T22, T12 and T11 in three straight years, improving each time.

In each of those starts he's gained strokes off the tee and landed on the right side of driving accuracy, which matters here with so many club‑down tee shots. He's coming off two straight top‑10 finishes, gaining off the tee in both with one spike putting week mixed in. The flat stick will be volatile, but this is exactly the type of track where I'm willing to gamble on sharp iron players and hope for a spike week on the greens.

One thing that matters when you look at driving accuracy this week: most general stats don't separate driver from less‑than‑driver. Some players are significantly better when they're hitting three‑wood or long irons. Thompson happens to be one of those guys, which is another reason he fits this layout so well.

Mac Meissner +7500 — Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Best Bet: +7500, E/W 3 places

We're intentionally building a slightly bigger card and reaching for some larger numbers because this feels like a weaker field where course fits, and recent form can really matter. Mac Meissner at 75/1 is a good example — a player who really likes this golf course and whose profile lines up with what Sedgefield demands.

Meissner is typically just accurate enough off the tee, usually an above‑average approach player, and a very good putter. In each of the last two years here he's gained accuracy off the tee relative to the field, gained strokes on approach, and posted what I'd call spike putting weeks, gaining well over a stroke in true putting according to Data Golf. The results tell the story: T12 here in 2024 and a solo second last year.

He's also gained true strokes putting in five straight tournaments coming into this week. If he can pair that current putting form with even modestly positive approach play, we're live at a big number on a track that might be his best fit on TOUR.

Sungjae Im +7500 — Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Best Bet: +4500, 5 places and +7500, E/W 3 places

Im loves it here. He's typically a strong putter, and last week, he gained true strokes on approach for the first time since May, which is exactly what you want to see right before he arrives at one of his favorite tracks.

His Wyndham record is outstanding. Since 2019, Im has five top‑25 finishes at Sedgefield, including a T6, T9 and T2, and he's gained strokes putting in every appearance except one. He's clearly comfortable on these greens and on this style of positional layout. He's also coming off two straight top‑15 finishes — one at the Open Championship and one at the Rocket Classic — which is another data point showing that his overall game is stabilizing across very different courses.

When you're getting a number this big on a player with elite course history and some signs of life in both irons and putter, it's enough for me to take the swing. I'll scale down units as we get deeper into the card, but Sungjae belongs on it.

Matt Wallace +11000 — Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Best Bet: +11000, E/W 3 places

Matt Wallace is firmly in the "pizza money" category at 110/1, but the combination of price, recent flashes and course fit is interesting enough to justify a small play. I don't think the more generous each‑way tiers have numbers that move the needle for him, so I'm grabbing the big headline price with three places and living with the result.

Wallace has posted both spike putting weeks and spike approach weeks over the past few months. At the Rocket Classic, he gained over one true stroke putting, and earlier this season he gained nearly two strokes putting at the Cadillac Championship. The ball‑striking is trending the right way; he's gained approach strokes in seven of his last eight tournaments, including a run of three spike weeks that spans PGA TOUR and Overseas events.

His Sedgefield record isn't spectacular, but it's quietly solid. In his last four appearances here since 2020, he's gained strokes putting in three of them and posted a couple of top‑30 finishes. He also has two second‑place finishes this season and is fresh off a T5, so you can stitch together enough pieces to see him putting it together on a scorable course. My model has him inside the top‑15 at this price.

Billy Horschel +16000 — Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Billy Horschel

Best Bets: +7500, E/W 10 places and +16000, E/W 3 places

We'll close with a true horse‑for‑course in Billy Horschel. His overall 2026 season has been rough; there isn't much in the global form that screams "must‑bet." But Sedgefield has been one of his best tracks over the last decade, and the each‑way prices the market is hanging on him are too tempting to ignore.

Dating back to 2016, Horschel has eight appearances at the Wyndham and has stacked finishes of T11, T7, T6, T5, solo 4th and 2nd among them. He's gained strokes putting in five straight trips to Sedgefield and usually pairs that with positive approach and off‑the‑tee numbers. Even in a season with uneven results, his driving accuracy has quietly held up in recent starts, and different parts of his game have flashed at various points.

Given that profile, I'm splitting exposure: a more conservative 75/1 each‑way ticket with 10 places to capture the "he just lives on this leaderboard" outcome, and a smaller 160/1 each‑way ladder with three places in case he truly spikes and threatens the win.

What Is an Each‑Way Bet?

An each‑way bet in golf is really two bets in one: a win bet and a place bet, stacked on the same golfer for equal stakes. If your guy wins, both halves cash; if he only finishes inside the places (say, the top 8), the win half loses, but the place half still pays out at a fraction of the listed odds — usually 1/4 or 1/5, depending on the book. The number of places paid is set by the sportsbook and listed next to your ticket, and you don't need a winner to get paid — you just need your guy hanging around the top of the leaderboard.
