2025 Genesis Invitational Predictions & Picks: Top Tourney Picks to Take at Torrey Pines

This week, the third signature event of the 2025 PGA Tour will take place, as Hideki Matsuyama will look to defend his title at the Genesis Invitational.
Typically, the tournament takes place at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, but due to the fire that ravaged the area last month, the tournament will instead take place at the South Course at Torrey Pines in San Diego, which hosted the Farmers Insurance Open last month.
This past weekend, Thomas Detry recorded his first career PGA Tour win, blowing away the field by seven strokes at the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale. Among the names left in Detry's dust in the desert was Justin Thomas, who finished tied for sixth, nine strokes back.
Thomas is one of the favorites for this week's tournament, but the list of Genesis Invitational favorites is topped by Scottie Scheffler, who finished tied for 25th at TPC Scottsdale in his second tournament following his delayed start to the new season.

2025 Genesis Invitational Predictions and Picks
Tournament Winner Pick: Collin Morikawa (+1600)
It is only a matter of time before Scheffler wins this season, and it will be a surprise to no one if it happens this week.
But Morikawa offers an enticing combination of potential and value. He finished second behind Matsuyama at The Sentry to open the season and started the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am well before fading over the weekend and finishing in a tie for 17th.
Morikawa is long overdue for a win, and I expect him to be in the running for the duration this week.
Other Genesis Invitational Picks
Taylor Pendrith to finish in the top 20 (+110)
Pendrith has been in solid form early on this season, finishing tied for 13th at The Sentry and recording top-ten finishes at the Farmers Insurance Open (t-7th) and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (t-9th).
In addition to his solid finish at Torrey Pines last month, the Canadian finished tied for ninth at the Farmers Insurance Open last year. Look for him to perform well at Torrey Pines once again.
Sepp Straka to finish in the top 20 (+140)
Straka, the current FedEx Cup points leader, won The American Express and has three other top-15 finishes in five events this season. Based on his current form, this is outstanding value.
Tony Finau to finish in the top 20 (+150)
Finau has been hit or miss thus far this season, but based on those results, he should be a hit this week.
In four events this season, he has two top-15 finishes and two missed cuts. Both top-15 finishes have come in the two signature events, the first a tie for 15th at The Sentry and the second a tie for 13th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
More importantly, the 35-year-old has an excellent history at Torrey Pines, though he missed the cut there last month. Look for a much better result this time week.
