Blue Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats CFL Week 5 Prediction & Picks (July 5, 2026) cover (Tiger-Cats QB Bo Levi Mitchell)

Two teams currently at opposite ends of the form table will face off to close out Week 5 in the Canadian Football League, as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-2) visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-1) at Tim Hortons Field (7 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network).

The Ticats opened the season with a frustrating overtime loss to the rival Montreal Alouettes, in which they led 24-10 in the second half but were done in by two costly turnovers.

They played turnover-free football in a win at Winnipeg in Week 2, then did the same in a home win over the BC Lions in Week 3. And with a win in tonight's rematch with the Blue Bombers, the Tiger-Cats will match the Alouettes at the top of the East Division with a 3-1 record.

Winnipeg, meanwhile, is looking to avoid a third straight loss. The Blue Bombers opened the season with a walk-off win in Calgary, but home losses to Hamilton and Edmonton have put them in an early hole in the West Division, where Elks and Saskatchewan Roughriders are both off to 3-1 starts.

It is still early, however, and a win tonight could set up Winnipeg for a move up the standings in the coming weeks with four of their following five games at Princess Auto Stadium.

Who will come away with the win tonight in Hamilton? The home team holds the edge at Lucky Rebel and other top online sportsbooks, but it is not as much of an edge as you might expect given how the most recent meeting went.

Blue Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction and Picks

Tiger-Cats First Half -2.5 (-112 at Lucky Rebel) vs. Blue Bombers

Hamilton has started well in every game thus far this season, including the first meeting with Winnipeg.

  • vs. Montreal: Led 17-10 at halftime
  • at Winnipeg: Led 24-10 at halftime
  • vs. BC: Led 27-9 at halftime

That bodes well for tonight's matchup, even if the Blue Bombers don't have a second-quarter implosion like they did in Week 2, when they led 10-7 after one quarter but were outscored 17-0 in the second.

Bo Levi Mitchell Under 323.5 Passing Yards (-103 at Lucky Rebel)

It is tempting to take the over here, but both recent and historical trends favor the under. Mitchell hit the under on this number in each of the first three games, throwing for 307 against the Alouettes, 287 in the first matchup with the Blue Bombers, and 285 against the Lions.

Efficiency and execution certainly aren't an issue, as he was 19 for 24 with three touchdowns against Winnipeg and 15 for 18 with five touchdown passes against BC. That makes a sprinkle on over 2.5 touchdown passes (+155 at Lucky Rebel) an intriguing option. But he hasn't thrown for 324 or more yards against the Blue Bombers since before the pandemic, and dating back to last season, he has thrown for 324 or more yards just once in 14 games.
