Tyson Fury is set to finally face Anthony Joshua in the coming months, but before that highly-anticipated bout between British brawlers takes place, Fury has the small matter of seeing off Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand.

This bout certainly does not match the blockbuster billing of Fury's fight with Joshua, which will take place this year but does not yet have a set date or location. In fact, it will not air live anywhere, whether as part of a pay-per-view or on any streaming platform.

Also, the bout, which is scheduled for 10 rounds, is taking place at the Max Muay Thai Stadium, which holds just 1500 spectators. That is well short of the crowd that could pack Wembley Stadium, one of the prospective venues for the upcoming Fury vs. Joshua showdown.

But even with that big battle looming and despite being a massive favorite at Lucky Rebel and other top online sportsbooks, Fury certainly cannot underestimate Wach, a veteran of 52 professional fights who is still going at in the ring at 46.

Fury vs. Wach Prediction and Picks

Can Wach stay on his feet long enough to make things interesting?

Twelve of Fury's last 16 fights have gone eight or more full rounds, with the last four all going the scheduled distance (three 12-round fights and his 10-round duel with Francis Ngannou in October 2023). Those are rather interesting trends when early finishes were a hallmark of his first several years in the professional ranks.

Since starting his professional career 33-2, Wach has lost 11 of his last 17 fights, including seven of the last 10. That includes a unanimous decision defeat in his most recent fight, a 10-round bout against Viktor Vykhryst in Budapest, Hungary in March.

Wach went the full 10 in a unanimous decision loss to Tyson Fury's cousin Hughie in December 2020, while his ledger also contains respectable losses to Dillian Whyte, Jarrell Miller, Alexander Povetkin, and most notably, Wladimir Klitschko in 2012, in the most high-profile bout of his career to this point.

Given how Wach has fared against his toughest opponents, it is highly unlikely that he will pose much of a challenge to Fury, who should have the upper hand from the opening bell. But despite Fury being a massive favorite, he may be in line for a little workout as he warms up for his matchup with Joshua.

Fury vs. Wach Picks: Fury to Win in Rounds 6-10 (+335 at Lucky Rebel)

Given how most of Fury's recent fights have gone down and how Wach has not been easy to knock out even as he has gotten older and found less and less success, this play has a lot of value.

I don't think Fury will let him go the distance, but I think it will at least reach the latter five rounds. In the end, Fury should finish an opponent for the first time since his 10th-round TKO win over Derek Chisora in December 2022.
