Pittsburgh Steelers

2021 Record: 0-0

Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers won their seventh AFC North title of Mike Tomlin’s tenure as head coach. Expectations are low that they will win an eighth this season, with the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns with higher expectations and shorter odds to win the division.

Last season, the Steelers won their first 11 games of the regular season before stumbling down the stretch. They lost four of their last five games and then fell at home in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the rival Cleveland Browns, who were making their first postseason appearances in almost two decades. Given that they were in pursuit of an undefeated season and the top seed in the AFC for much of the season, their finish was highly disappointing.

But instead of walking off into the sunset, veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is back for one more run at a third Super Bowl ring. NFL futures odds don’t think much of his chances to do so, as the Steelers have worse Super Bowl LVI odds than even the New England Patriots, who are coming off of a losing season and are set to start rookie Mac Jones at quarterback.

Will we see the Steelers spring a surprise this season and make a run at a ring? With a season opener at Buffalo right out of the gate, Big Ben and the Steelers have an early opportunity to prove their mettle. With two contenders in their division and road games against the Bills, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Minnesota Vikings, if the Steelers do reach the postseason for the tenth time under Tomlin, they will have earned it.
