WNBA Expert Picks for 8/13: Superstars Out in Sin City

Happy Friday Junior. We've got three games in the WNBA tonight and I've got three bets locked and loaded. Smaller slate, but still a lot to discuss.
Walk with me and let's talk about my favorite hoopers tonight; especially in that late Mystic/Aces matchup.

Today's Best Bets
Breanna Stewart o34.5 PRA (-110) | Lucky Rebel
The New York Liberty have been a force in the WNBA for a long time now and even more so with Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu leading the way. This year the team sits in 8th place, 4th in the Eastern Conference and while not at risk of losing their playoff spot; they aren't blowing anyone away either.
The Liberty come into tonights games on the heels of an ugly, 14-point loss to the Indiana Fever. Prior to that the Liberty had won 4 straight games and 7 of their 9 games since the All-Star break.
Stewart's averaging 23.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game since the break. She's cleared this line in 6 of her last 10 games overall and 5 of her last 7 games at home.
The Los Angeles Sparks rank 14th in points allowed, 13th in rebounds allowed and 14th in assists allowed. The team ranks 14th in opponent effective field goal percentage and 13th in opponent offensive rebound rate.
Stewie's averaging 1.8 offensive rebounds per game in her last 10 and this Sparks team presents the perfect matchup. The two teams have split the seasons series so far, with Stewie averaging 23.5/7.0/5.5 in the two games on 53% from the field.
This is the highest total on the board today for a reason and at 188, I'm betting we see a big Stewie bounce back tonight.
Jackie Young o10.5 A/R (-105) | Lucky Rebel
Now let's talk about the game of the night, the Las Vegas Aces and the Washington Mystics. I've got two plays in this game and it starts off with Jackie Young.
Young's been great this year, averaging career high numbers across the board. She's averaging 18.3 points per game this year but she's also upped both her rebounding (4.6) and assist (6.7) numbers.
The Aces and Mystics just met two days ago, in this very stadium; here in Sin City. Young scored 25 points, grabbed 2 rebounds and dished out 8 assists. The Aces went home with the win and with it evened up the season series with Washington.
In their first meeting, Young scored 24 points, dished out 7 assists and even grabbed 7 rebounds. She's cleared this assists/rebounds line in 2 of her last 3 games overall against the Mystics and with all eyes on A'ja Wilson; it's no surprise Young continues to take advantage.
Wilson's avergaing 32/10 against the Mystics this year and that's a big reason why we've seen Young stack up assists. The Mystic have one of the best defenses in the WNBA and two of the toughest paint defenders in Shakira Austin and Kiki Iriafen; they still can't stop A'ja.
Young's the beneficiary of elite center play and because of the amount of eyes A'ja draws; sometimes a few more rebounding opportunities fall to her.

Shakira Austin o26.5 P/R (-115) | Lucky Rebel
Lastly, in that same game; we have to talk about Shakira Austin. After being drafted 3rd overall in 2022, Austin showed flashes of talent and often reminded us of the girl she was at Mississippi and overseas.
This year, she's kicked it into a new gear. The Mystic center is averaging a career high 16.3 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game. She's shooting 47% from the field and despite incredibly low volume; she's shooting 36% from beyond the arc.
Austin's cleared this line in 12 of her last 14 games and the Aces rank 13 in points allowed to the center spot. She's also cleared this line in both games against the Aces this year, playing 29+ minutes in both games and averaging 23/7 on 46% from the field.
This is the second of back to back games between the Mystic and Aces. The Aces walked away with a 10-point win on Tuesday, so I'd expect the Mystic to come out a tad more aggressive.
