US Open Cup Quarterfinals Picks and Predictions for May 19, 2026

The US Open Cup has reached our final eight squads, and like normal, we are down to only MLS sides remaining. There were three lower league clubs who made it to the Round of 16, but all were eliminated. Thus, eight MLS teams remain, and four go at it tonight in the first round of the US Open Cup Quarterfinals. Now, keep in mind, these are single elimination contests. We will not have a first and second leg, it's all do or die tonight. Let's get into our favorite soccer picks and see who will leave it all out on the field.
U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals: Tuesday's Predictions May 19
Orlando City vs. Atlanta United U.S. Open Cup Picks

Orlando City and Atlanta United literally just played each other this weekend in this exact stadium for the MLS season. Now the two turn around and do it again with much higher stakes in this competition. The teams played to a 1-1 draw, with the visitors somehow finding an equalizer in the 86′ minute to secure a point, after conceding in the first 20 minutes.
Atlanta put the pressure on, producing 10 corner kicks and 21 total attempts. But neither have been playing very well during this MLS season. Tonight's visitors are actually the second worst team in the Eastern Conference, while Orlando isn't much higher up. Plus, Orlando has the absolute worst back line in the entire league. Although we just saw these teams total just two goals, I have a feeling Atlanta will be able to break through tonight.
For plus money, I'll back them to score twice, and I don't hate taking a stab at the moneyline. Bets will be settled in 90 minutes, so unfortunately, a 1-1 draw with Atlanta winning 2-1 in extra time would be a lose for us. However, they just created double digit corner kicks and over 20 attempts against this team. Surely they can do it again and find the back of net the second time around.
Prediction: Atlanta United Wins 2-1 (+900)
St. Louis City vs. Houston Dynamo U.S. Open Cup Picks

Best Bet: Houston Dynamo to Advance (+120) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
Now for this bet, we can win in extra time. All we need is for Houston to move on. They can do that however they please: a regulation win, an extra time victory, or coming out on top in a penalty kick shootout. Personally, I think we only need 90 minutes, so a sprinkle on the +205 moneyline could be a play.
The Dynamo have simply been in better form all season long. Like Orlando and Atlanta, St. Louis City is the second worst team in the conference, and Houston is much higher up. In fact, the Dynamo are actually sixth in the Western Conference right now, comfortably in a playoff position. But there is still plenty of soccer to be played. They have won four of their last five matches outright, including a 4-1 victory on the road over LAFC. While St. Louis is unbeaten in their last three straight and four of their last five overall. Against top offenses, St. Louis has allowed two goals to LAFC, three to San Jose and four to Seattle. I trust the Dynamo to go into Energizer Park and figure out a way to advance to the US Open Cup Semifinals.
Prediction: Houston Dynamo Win 2-0 (+1900)
