Two of the best teams in all of the world, but especially in Europe, meet in Spain this afternoon for each club's sixth UEFA Champions League match of the League Phase portion of the competition. Real Madrid and Manchester City are both near the top of the table, but the English visitors are on the outside looking in at the top eight. The Spanish hosts sit at No. 6 on the table, but they are not quite confirmed in that spot. Points are super important for both of these teams in this game. Let's get right into our favorite picks.

In the UCL so far, Manchester City is 3-1-1. They started things off with a 2-0 shutout win over Napoli and then drew with AS Monaco on the road, 2-2. After that, they beat Villarreal 2-0 on the road and Borussia Dortmund 4-1 at the Etihad, but are coming off a 2-0 home loss to Bayer Leverkusen. City will certainly want to have that one back, but they can only focus on the match at hand. Since that loss, Manchester City have beat Leeds United, Fulham and Sunderland in the EPL.
As for Real Madrid, they are 4-0-1 in the UCL this year. They began with three straight wins, beating Marseille, Kairat Almaty and Juventus. But then they went on the road against Liverpool at Anfield, losing 1-0. However, they bounced back and beat Olympiacos 4-3 in their last UCL match. Will they be able to bring it against one of the top dogs in all of Europe?

City have been cruising to three straight wins since their UCL loss, while Real Madrid are 1-1-1 since their last Champions League victory. The hosts are coming off a 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo at home from this past weekend, but perhaps they were looking ahead to their EPL opponent.

I know, I know, this is incredibly juicy, but let me at least give you some options. I have laid the 1.5 units on this wager to profit just under 1. However, you could take Real Madrid +0.25 (-117), which would give you both the draw no bet and the double chance for -117. Lastly, if you have more stones than anyone, take Real Madrid Draw No Bet (+116) or even the moneyline at +191.
However, I'll lay some juice on Real Madrid at least earning a point today at home against Manchester City. Playing at the Bernabéu gives them a big boost, especially considering they lost to an inferior team in their last time in front of their home crowd. This is a spot for them to solidify themselves in the top eight of this table, and set themselves up for success going forward.
I expect Real Madrid's defense to be the MVP of this match. They've allowed just five goals in five UCL matches this year, while allowing less than one per match in 16 La Liga contests. Overall, despite Manchester City's high flying offense, they have not played a team of this caliber on the road in a while. They played at the Emirates against Arsenal back in September, but since then they really haven't faced anyone on the road: Fulham, Newcastle, Swansea City, Aston Villa, Villarreal. None of those teams compare to Real Madrid, and I expect the Spanish hosts to give their visitors a rude welcome.
