Manchester City vs. Liverpool FA Cup Betting Insights

Dominik Szoboszlai scored the last time Liverpool faced Manchester City just two months ago - Liverpool Manchester City Picks

Dominik Szoboszlai scored the last time Liverpool faced Manchester City just two months ago

Let's discuss the first two meetings. Earlier, in November, the two met in this stadium for their first English Premier League contest of the year. Liverpool probably wishes they didn't even show up, but it was basically like they never took the field. Manchester City thumped their visitors by winning 3-0 in shutout fashion. They led 2-0 at the break and got one more later in the second half. City allowed just one shot on frame from their visitors even though they only controlled 48.5% of possession.

The second meeting at Anfield was slightly more competitive, but City still found a way to win. This match was just a couple months ago in early February. We saw a scoreless first 70 minutes before Dominik Szoboszlai found the back of the net in the 74′ minute to give Liverpool the lead, but it didn't last long. Manchester City rallied for an 84′ minute equalizer from Bernardo Silva, and then Erling Haaland sunk a penalty kick in stoppage time to earn three points for his team. Liverpool, once again, managed just four shots on target, compared to seven from the victors.

Will Liverpool finally find a way to win in this third match against Manchester City?

Can Rayan Cherki and Manchester City advance to the FA Cup Semifinals with a win over Liverpool?

Best Bet: Manchester City ML (-139)  Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

I am willing to pay this juice. Manchester City is at home, they are the better team and are in much better form. They sit nine points behind Arsenal with just eight EPL matches remaining, so winning the domestic league might be out of reach, which means they can focus on this FA Cup contest.

It's also worth considering that Manchester City is out of the UEFA Champions League competition after losing to Real Madrid. Liverpool not only has to worry about their UCL contest on Wednesday, but they also have to travel to France to face Paris Saint-Germain. They have much more on their plate, so the focus could be a little shaky going on the road against one of the best teams in the EPL.

Sure, the FA Cup is not as prestigious as the EPL or UCL, but teams will still want to win. And Manchester City can afford to put all their eggs in this basket as they get to wait until next Sunday, April 12 for their next match in the EPL. I do think this match will be low scoring, so pairing City with an inflated under for plus money could be the move, as I am seeing City/Under 4.5 for +138.

Prediction: Manchester City Wins 1-0 (+875)
