Leagues Cup Picks & Predictions (8/1): Clubs Begin Second Round of League Phase Matches

All 36 clubs involved in the 2025 Leagues Cup have played one match as of right now, and the table is heating up. Goal differential will certainly come into play as 18 teams on each table battle for just four spots once they all play three matches. Let's get in to tonight's picks and see who might find a win tonight in the Leagues Cup.

Leagues Cup: Friday's Predictions August 1

We have eight MLS teams sitting with three points a piece, and five clubs on the Liga MX table have outright wins as well. Three of those five Mexican clubs are also tied with a +3 goal differential, while the Seattle Sounders seven goal victory propelled them to the top of the MLS side of the standings.

Tonight, several teams look to add another win to their resume, while others are looking for their first points of the tournament.

LAFC vs. Pachuca: Leagues Cup Picks

Best Bet: Pachuca +0.5 (+102) BetOnline

We are backing Pachuca on the double chance line tonight, and for plus money I think it's a steal. Yes, they are on the road against LAFC, but they have been fantastic in their short season so far.

They just took down the top team in the Western Conference, beating San Diego 3-2 to start this tournament. Prior to that, they were 3-0-0 in Liga MX play after going 0-0-3 in the FIFA Club World Cup. Regardless, they are red hot and face LAFC, who lost to Mazatlán FC in PKs to open the competition.

After scoring in the 29′ minute, they conceded just two minutes later, eventually losing in the shootout. In MLS play, LAFC were beaten by the Portland Timbers the last time they played at home, and drew with the Galaxy 3-3, where they allowed the visitors to score two in the final 20 minutes to earn a draw.

I simply think Pachuca is the better team here, and I think there is tons of value on their line, especially in the double chance market.

Prediction: Pachuca Wins 2-1 (+1400)

Tigres UANL vs. San Diego FC: Leagues Cup Picks

Best Bet: Tigres UANL ML (+118) BetOnline

We backed Tigres in their first matchup, and we will do it again tonight. Not just because San Diego let us down, but more so I have more faith in their visitors at the moment. Tigres UANL made very light work of Houston, beating the Dynamo 4-1 to open this tournament. They were 2-0-0 in Liga MX play as well, beating No. 2 Toluca 4-3 (4-1 from the 58′ to 88′ minutes), and shutting out FC Juarez.

They are headlined by former Atletico Madrid forward, Angel Correa, who scored twice in their opener, and is set for another goal or two tonight. Tigres have been able to put over half of their shot attempts on target in their last three matches, and San Diego looked terrible in their opener.

They were able to net a couple of concession goals at the very end, but will also be without winger Anders Dreyer, who drew a red card last match. I see the Tigres continuing to roll and stay unbeaten so far this competition season.

Prediction: Tigres UANL Win 2-0 (+1000)
