Yesterday did not go well on the pitch for us, in the EPL or in the MLS. However, we've got to get right back on the horse. Major League Soccer is giving us a stand alone match between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, who certainly have their sights set on making some noise in the MLS playoffs. FC Cincinnati hosts Orlando City today at TQL Stadium and we've dug in to find our favorite picks in this match.

Let's discuss what this contest would mean for both teams.
FC Cincinnati currently sit No. 2 on the Eastern Conference table, just five points behind the Philadelphia Union and two points ahead of both New York City FC and Inter Miami. However, Leo Messi and company have a couple extra matches in hand compared to Cincy. A little further down, Orlando City has dropped to No. 7 in the Eastern Conference, sitting two points behind both Nashville and Charlotte, while staying a single point ahead of the Columbus Crew.
After this match, Orlando City will have four remaining while FC Cincinnati will have just three. Points are so crucial this late in the season, and I would think both teams come incredibly focused for this task at hand. They already went head to head in June, with FC Cincinnati beating Orlando City down in Florida. The hosts netted an 87′ minute goal to avoid being shutout. Now on the road with plenty at stake, can they pull off an upset at TQL Stadium?

I heavily lean with the hosts in this matchup, but would worry about them playing a bit conservative. It is unlikely that FC Cincinnati is able to overtake the Union for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. But a draw would put them three points ahead of New York City FC with two matches to play. Of course, with Inter Miami also looming in the near distance and with a couple matches in hand, perhaps the hosts come a little more aggressive in order to try and widen that gap between them and the two clubs following in their footsteps.
Ultimately, FC Cincinnati have won two straight and three of their last five in the MLS, but have lost three straight league matches at home. This is a match where I see them coming ready to defend their home turf and earn three points.

Three goals or less and we walk away with some profit. If these teams combined for four, I'll tip my cap to them, but I think the defenses will be a priority in this match. While Orlando City is one of the higher scoring teams in the league, their back line is still pretty dang good.
Plus, FC Cincinnati is one of four teams in the Eastern Conference to allow less than 40 goals so far this season. Look for them to understand they are better equipped to beat Orlando City in a low scoring match, rather than trying to keep up offensively up and down the field.
Give me the hosts to win a grudge match, as three points this late in the season won't come very easy.
