The EURO 2024 Quarterfinals ramp back up today with two more matches to decided our four finalists. First up, we have the most motivated team in the tournament in England, taking on the rowdy Group A runner ups, Switzerland. Despite England winning their group, they did not play very well. Plus, they were less than 30 seconds from being knocked out in the Round of 16 by Slovenia, but an equalizer in stoppage time from Jude Bellingham sparked a huge comeback.
England eventually advanced, but they have no easy task with the Swiss. Switzerland was a few moments from winning their group and defeating Germany, when our hosts netted one in stoppage time to draw and win the group. Because of this, the Swiss battled our defending EURO 2020 Champions, Italy, beating them handily, 2-nil.
It all comes down to this for a spot in the semifinals. Let's dive into this match!

Will Swiss Carve Out Path Against England?

Now, I know I toot my own horn sometimes, I try not to too often, however, gotta give credit where credit is due. 🙂
I've been high on the Swiss to make the Semifinals since this bracket dropped. They looked incredible in Group A, I had a feeling they would dominate Italy, and I lean with them to take down England in this Quarterfinal match. Most of the soccer world has been utterly disappointed in England's play this tournament, and even with their magical comeback in the Round of 16, I think the Swiss are much too sound for the Three Lions.
Xherdan Shaqiri commands attention from opposing defenders up top, and Granit Xhaka does a great job of controlling possession in the midfield, which will certainly disrupt the English attackers. Ultimately, I do not trust England to produce enough scoring chances in this match. I lean with the Swiss' offense, I lean with their defense, and I lean with their goalkeeping as well. I am all on board the Swiss train.

For this line, I will absolutely back the Swiss. To be quite honest, I think the Swiss get this done 1-0 in 90 minutes (+800), but I will take a pillow and simply bet on them to move on to the EURO 2024 Semifinals. From the start of the tournament, Switzerland has looked much better than England, and coming off the high of a miraculous comeback, this should be the perfect time to fade them.
As I said before the Round of 16 began, I liked Switzerland or Italy to knock off England, and now that we are here, I can't back down. At the beginning of the tournament, I might've sided with the English, however with the way things are shaping out now, I've got to back the Swiss at this price. Per usual, I also lean under, so if any of you English sickos don't wanna fade your own team, Under 2 (-113) is certainly a play.
