The Copa America 2024 Semifinals are here, and the first matchup tonight features two teams we saw square off during Group Stage! Argentina takes on Canada once again as both Group A participants won their Quarterfinals and meet up tonight with a trip to the Title match on the line. Now, Argentina beat Canada 2-nil in the opening match of the Copa America 2024 tournament, but Canada held strong for the first 45 minutes.
After winning their next two, Canada held on against Group B Winner, Venezuela, in the Quarterfinals, advancing on penalty kicks. Argentina has handled business in all 4 of their matches, and I don’t necessarily see that changing tonight. Congrats to Canada for making it here, but they are the clear outlier left in this Copa America, and I see it ending tonight.
But that’s enough foreshadowing, let’s breakdown the matchup and find out best bets!

Argentina Faces a Familiar Foe in the Semifinals
Like I said, these teams began play for the entire Copa America tournament, and Argentina won 2-nil on two second half goals. While Argentina hasn’t been putting teams away with 3-4 goals, they’ve played solid soccer and done enough to win every game, or advance in the Quarterfinals.
What’s been most impressive to me is their defense. Argentina has conceded just 8 shots on target and 12 corner kicks in 4 matches this tournament. They are not allowing their opponents any chances on net, making Emi Martinez’ job much easier. If they can continue to play solid defense, I see them winning the whole thing, but regardless I don’t see them being tested tonight.
While Canada has won 2 matches and survive in the knockout round, they have not produced much offense. Canada managed just 7 shots on target in all 3 group stage matches, which included two matches playing over an hour with a man advantage. Finally they rallied for 7 SOT against Venezuela, but only put one past the keeper. If Canada can’t produce offense, they won’t move on.
The Copa America Tournament is not doing any extra time, and matches ending in a draw will go straight to PKs after 90 minutes. While Canada was able to hold strong for 45 minutes against Argentina the first time, I don’t see that happening again. I think Canada needs to score at least one goal in order to advance, as I see them conceding easily. This should be a low scoring match, if I’m Canada, I’m trying to play to a scoreless 90 minutes and sneak away with a win in penalties.
Copa America 2024: Argentina vs Canada Best Bets
Best Bets: Argentina Halftime/FullTime (+105) BetOnline
Let me explain this one for the newbies out there. We are betting on Argentina to be leading at halftime, and to win the match in 90 minutes. Both must occur for us to win. Anything can happen within the 45 minutes of each half as long as Argentina is leading both times the teams head to the locker room.
Although we bet the Under 3 in the first match expecting a slow opening 45 minutes, tonight I think things are different. Argentina knows this tournament is a failure if they don’t get past Canada tonight, and after beating them 2-0 in group stage, they shouldn’t be messing around at all. I see them jumping on Canada early, attacking at will and peppering the net. In my mind, this team breaks out to an early 1-0 lead and never looks back.
I could see this being a 1-0 or 2-0 final, which is why I also endorse Argentina to Nil at (-110). Me personally, I’ll back the Argentinians to come out extremely aggressive and dominate for the full 90 minutes.
