Best MLS Bets for Saturday April 8th cover

The 2023 MLS Season is well under way, with teams having played either 5 or 6 matches at this point. Players and Coaches are starting to settle into form and are making the proper adjustments necessary to have a successful season.

This year, because of scheduling changes, most Major League Soccer games will be played on the weekends. This gives us a stacked slate on Saturdays, which I am looking forward to breaking down for you each week.

Best MLS Picks

With the new scheduling, we are facing an absolute gauntlet of a soccer slate each weekend which can be quite overwhelming. Trying to look at 14 different games can be a daunting task, so I tend to stick with teams I’m familiar with and try not to go over board.

Here are a few spots that I’m either looking at betting, or have already placed.

Atlanta FC/NYC FC BTTS Yes (-130) Caesar’s

For those not familiar, the acronym means Both Teams To Score. This is a very common soccer bet and it is very straight forward. In this match, we are simply betting on both teams to find the back of the net.

Now, I’m rolling with this as opposed to the over 2.5 because they are roughly the same odds, and I could see this ending in a 1-1 draw.

NYC FC have scored in both home matches this year, and have given up a goal in five of six games this year. They play conservative, but are more aggressive in front of their home crowd. They should also know they need to score to beat Atlanta.

Atlanta has not been shutout this year. They are 4-1-1 and have scored 13 goals, ranking 2nd in the league. However, they have also given up 9 goals, six of which came on the road against the Columbus Crew. They boast two shutout wins, one last game against the New York Red Bulls, and one against Charlotte FC on the road.

Atlanta’s fast attack, combined with NYC FC’s ability to play better at home makes me think both teams are able to score for us.

I have placed this bet on Caesar’s Sportsbook at -130 odds. Risking 0.65u to win 0.5u.

New England Revolution ML (-107) Barstool Sportsbook

New England Revolution Forward Gustavo Bou

The Revolution are 4-1-1 and are at home against a struggling Montreal team. The Impact are 1-0-4 on the season, and have been shutout in every single loss. They’ve scored 3 goals on the season, all coming in their lone 3-2 victory at home. Montreal has conceded 12 goals total, allowing multiple goals in every match except one, a 1-0 loss at Austin FC.

Going into their 5th away match of the season, spirits can’t be too high in the Montreal locker room, whereas things are much different in New England.

The Revolution have three shutout victories, and a shutout loss against LAFC on the road. They are coming off a home draw vs NYC FC where they conceded the tying goal in the 80th minute. The Revolution will look to bounce back and get three points here.

I have booked NE Revolution ML at -107 odds on the Barstool Sportsbook. Risking 0.53u to win 0.5u. Odds for this look to be -111 on Caesar’s and -115 on BetMGM.

Colorado Rapids/Sporting KC Draw +280

This one is more just a fun bet for me. These two teams are both 0-3-3 and are searching for their first win of the season. Now, they already played to a nil-nil draw about a month ago, so I’m rooting for a similar result.

I bet on these teams to Draw at +280 odds on Barstool Sportsbook. Risking 0.25u to win 0.7u. This line is +275 on both Caesar’s and BetMGM.

Game of the Week

St. Louis City SC @ Seattle Sounders

  • Kick-Off: 10:30PM ET
  • Location: Lumen Field – Seattle, Washington
  • Broadcast: Apple TV+

Odds courtesy of BetMGM.

Three-Way Moneyline

  • STL (+375)
  • SEA (-160)
  • Draw (+300)

Unfortunately, I do not have a pick in this game, but I will definitely be tuning in. This Western Conference showdown features the two teams on top of the current standings. St. Louis has been the story of the league, winning their first five MLS matches as a first year expansion club, before losing 1-nil to Minnesota United last week.

City SC has scored 15 goals while only allowing 5 on the year. The Sounders have netted 12 and conceded just 3 goals. What an incredible matchup this is going to be, and I have to lean with the Sounders for experience and home-field advantage. Seattle has two wins and a draw at home this year.

Although I side with Seattle, I would not lay anywhere near -160 juice for them to win. If I had to bet this game, which I am not going to do, I would look to bet St. Louis Tie No Bet at +270 on FanDuel. I certainly would not go crazy and would recommend a max bet of a quarter unit.
