Two of the best teams in La Liga meet in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are extremely familiar with each other, as their schedules make sure they face off at least twice a year, but usually more than that. Well today's match between the two in the UCL Quarterfinals will actually be their fourth meeting of 2026, and fifth throughout this competitive season. Let's look at our soccer analysts favorite picks as Barcelona takes on Atlético.

In the very first meeting of this season, in December of 2025, Barcelona beat Atlético Madrid at home by a score of 3-1. However, in February, during the Copa Del Rey, Atlético got their revenge, annihilating their opponent, winning 4-0. Because of that win, in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey, Atlético parked the bus as much as they could with a four goal aggregate lead. But Barcelona was still able to break through plenty, winning 3-0, but failing to move on.
Finally, in the their second La Liga meeting in Madrid, Barcelona was once again victorious, winning 2-1 on the road. So Barcelona has gotten the best of Atlético Madrid in three of the their four matches this season, and two of them were fairly ugly. Will they be able to hold strong for yet another match against their domestic league foe?

I don't bet very many overs in soccer, but when these two teams go head to head we know they can produce fireworks. Barcelona doesn't really have a defensive switch, they go go go offensively, daring the other team to try and contain and keep up with them at the same time. This team's attack is aggressive, focused, and usually successful in putting the ball in the back of the net.
We have two teams that are VERY familiar with each other, and I think the more Barcelona plays you, the easier it is for them to figure out your defensive tendencies and therefore create more chances to score. Despite the 4-0 beating Atlético was able to give Barcelona, I believe that to be a fluke for the most part. We've seen in three other matches that Barcelona is the more dominant team on either side of the field.
Barcelona controlled over 67% of possession in their most recent La Liga contest, and had more shots on frame than their hosts did overall. Atlético Madrid mustered up just six total shots, with two going on frame, while the visitors put eight of their 22 total shots on target. Not to mention the 9-1 corner kick discrepancy as well. I see Barcelona dominating this match enough to win and help us get over this total.
