Across the pond in the English Premier League we have a couple of top tier teams going head to head to begin our Sunday as Arsenal takes on Manchester City. Back in September, these teams played to a 2-2 draw in Manchester, but the stakes are much higher now that we are later in the season.

Arsenal is tied with Nottingham Forest (not a typo) for 2nd place in the EPL with 47 total points. They are both nine points behind Liverpool, and are six points ahead of both Newcastle and Manchester City. Three points today for the visitors would be massive in securing their spot in the top of the table, however beating Arsenal at home in a meaningful match is nearly impossible.

Man City Limp into Emirates Looking for Something Positive

Manchester City is still nursing several injuries and has a very weak backline at the moment. John Stones has returned to the lineup, but Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias are still injured, as well as midfielder Rodri. Now, Arsenal will be without Bukayo Saka, Ben White and Gabriel Jesus, but the Gunners have plenty of other talented footballers to turn to.

Manchester City is not the same team on the road, especially against decent competition. They lost to PSG in Paris in the UEFA Champions League, 4-2, plus they were skunked by Juventus in Italy, 2-0. Not only that, City also lost to Aston Villa 2-1 in their last true EPL road test (Ipswich and Brentford don't count).

Plus, they have to face Arsenal, who still have EPL Title hopes in mind. With 15 matches remaining, there is plenty of time for the Gunners to catch Liverpool, but obviously they need to do everything in their control to make that happen. This includes beating Manchester City at home and earning three points. I think they are capable of doing just that, and Arsenal at home at a betable line is usually a full go.

I honestly cannot believe this is priced here, but I'll take the bait. I do not care that they are playing Manchester City. That doesn't have the same meaning as it might have a few years ago. The Gunners have solidified themselves as one of the top dogs in the EPL this year, and will look to beat Man City for the first time since October of 2023.

Last time they hosted City, Arsenal played a fantastic defensive game, beating their visitors 1-0. When they played in September, after allowing a 9th minute goal, the Gunners led 2-1 at halftime. However they played the entire 2nd half down a man. Eventually, Manchester City netted the equalizer in stoppage time, securing a point and stealing two from Arsenal.

Back at home, the Gunners will leave no doubt that they are the better team. They were already robbed by Manchester City once this year, they will certainly not let it happen again at home.
