At the 2025 Texas PLO Roundup Main Event, Stephen Hubbard emerged victorious. Hubbard captured the title and a $215,000 top prize following a dominant performance. His win reinforced his status among today's elite Omaha players.

Stephen Hubbard: His Road to the Title

Hubbard navigated a field of 337 entries to reach the final table. On the final day, he resumed near the top of the chip counts and maintained control throughout.

Hubbard navigated a competitive field that featured deep runs from multiple champions, including WSOP bracelet winners Alex Livingston (8th), Jim Collopy (15th), Caleb Furth (17th), and Bryce Yockey (24th). World Poker Tour Champions Club member Frederic Normand also made a strong showing, finishing 35th.

Once at the final table, he eliminated five of the final seven players himself, steamrolling his way to victory. The lone elimination he did not make was when Joe Firova was outdrawn by Philip Shing on the river. As players fell, Hubbard's chip lead widened.

With three players left, Hubbard kept aggressive pressure, forcing David Shaw into third place after Shaw failed to connect meaningfully against Hubbard's hand.

Heads-up against Philip Shing, Hubbard entered with an overwhelming 11-to-1 chip lead. Shing managed one sizable double-up but never closed the gap, remaining down 5:1.

On the final hand, the chips went in on the river of an A♠Q♥8♦10♠5♦ board. Shing, holding K♠8♥6♣3♥, attempted an all-in bluff. Hubbard, with a turned straight of J♠9♥7♥7♦, called confidently and secured the win.

Shing earned $155,000 as the runner-up, bringing his lifetime earnings to nearly $3 million.

That result reflects a clean American sweep of the final payouts. Hubbard's win also marked his second title of the Texas PLO Roundup. He earlier captured a $5,100 Single-Day High Roller event during the same series.

Beyond live tables, Hubbard remains a prominent figure among players who frequent US online poker sites. His live results underscore what strong PLO play can achieve both online and live.

PGT Texas PLO Roundup a Good Draw

The 2025 Texas PLO Roundup formed part of the PokerGO Tour calendar. This series ran from November 14 to 24 at Champions Club Texas in Houston.

Moreover, the $3,300 Main Event drew the 337 entries that produced a prize pool slightly above $1,000,000. The prize pool was enough to exceed the guaranteed $1 M.

Hubbard's performance not only sealed a major win but pushed him up the leaderboard in PGT points and cemented his strong standing among the series contenders.
