Joe McKeehen Wins 2026 SHRPO Championship

rmerJoe McKeehen has added another major title to his decorated poker career after winning the 2026 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship. The 2015 WSOP Main Event champion outlasted 673 entries in the $5,300 No-Limit Hold'em event. He secured $462,600 after a wild, swingy heads-up battle.

The victory also gave McKeehen 1,680 Player of the Year points. As a result, his 2026 POY total climbed to 2,540 points. His career tournament earnings now exceed $22.6 million.

The championship capped a two-week SHRPO festival featuring more than 60 tournaments. The Championship itself generated a $3,262,704 prize pool from its 673 entries.

Joe McKeehen Overcomes Final Table Challenge

McKeehen entered the final table in third place behind David Greufe and Loni Hui. Greufe held the chip lead, while Hui started comfortably in second. Therefore, McKeehen needed to navigate several dangerous stacks before reaching heads-up play.

The final table began at a rapid pace, with seven players eliminated in slightly more than three hours. Darren Rabinowitz fell first after running Q♠J♦ into Frankie Rivera's pocket kings. Rabinowitz picked up a diamond flush draw on the turn but missed the river.

Hui then eliminated Robert-Andrei Burlacu in eighth place with pocket aces against A♥K♥. She also sent Jose Nadal to the rail in seventh after rivering a heart flush. Next, Hui claimed another knockout when her pocket aces defeated Daniel Chalifour's pocket fives.

McKeehen began building momentum during that stretch. He picked off a bluff from Greufe while holding top pair, no kicker. That pot helped him remain within striking distance of the leaders.

Frankie Rivera became the fifth-place finisher after Greufe's pocket nines flopped quads against A♥K♠. Greufe then eliminated Edward Pak in fourth place. His pocket kings dominated Pak's A♠9♥, while a flopped set sealed the pot.

McKeehen then produced his most important three-handed surge. He flopped trip queens with Q♥9♦ against Hui's pocket kings. Later, Hui ran pocket eights into McKeehen's pocket queens. Her elimination secured McKeehen's place in heads-up play against Greufe.

McKeehen Survives a Dramatic Heads-Up Battle

McKeehen started heads-up play with the lead, but Greufe quickly made the match competitive. The former initially expanded his advantage by making trip queens and later completing a heart flush. At one stage, he held an 18-to-1 chip lead.

Greufe refused to surrender, though. He doubled four times before eventually taking the lead himself. A key cooler occurred when both players made trip tens on a board reading A♠10♦9♥3♠10♥. Greufe's queen kicker beat McKeehen's jack kicker.

Greufe eventually stretched his advantage to 11-to-1, leaving McKeehen with only nine big blinds. Nevertheless, McKeehen mounted another comeback. He doubled after turning an ace-high flush against Greufe's rivered jack-high straight.

The final hand arrived after McKeehen regained the lead. He limped from the button before Greufe moved all-in for 15 big blinds with K♦9♦. McKeehen called with A♦Q♦.

The Q♣6♦2♣4♦8♣ board gave McKeehen a pair of queens. His hand held, securing the championship, $462,600 prize, and SHRPO Guitar Tower Trophy.

PokerNews also reported that McKeehen and Greufe agreed to a heads-up ICM arrangement. The deal adjusted their payouts while leaving additional money and the trophy to play for.

McKeehen's SHRPO victory further strengthens his standing among the game's elite tournament professionals. His resume already includes three WSOP bracelets and more than $22.6 million in career earnings.

His latest victory also carried personal significance. McKeehen acknowledged that Florida tournaments had not previously produced the results he expected.

"Down here in Florida, I don't feel like I've ever done as well as I should have," McKeehen told SHRPO live reporter BJ Nemeth. "It feels like every time I get into the situation, I just can't. This time around, I was very focused."

That focus proved valuable during the final stages. McKeehen repeatedly found strong hands during the biggest three-handed pots. He also demonstrated resilience when Greufe reversed the momentum during heads-up play.

The victory now gives McKeehen another marquee title to add beside his 2015 WSOP Main Event championship. It also shows that his success has continued more than a decade after his first defining victory.

As the post-WSOP tournament season moves forward, McKeehen has already made a strong statement. His $462,600 SHRPO victory confirms that he remains a major threat whenever he reaches a final table.
