Winnipeg Jets vs Dallas Stars: NHL Best Bets (5/17)

Back down to Dallas we go as the Stars host the Winnipeg Jets in Game 6 tonight. The Jets successfully defended their elimination at home, but now they face the same situation on the road, where they have not won a single game all postseason. Is tonight the night they pull it off, extend this series, and send things back to Canada?

After finding themselves down 3-1 in this series, the Jets shutout the Stars in Game 5. They outshot them 35-22 on their way to a 4-0 victory at home to keep their season alive. However, this has been one of the best teams at home all season long. Now they have to go and win on the road. Connor Hellebuyck saved all 22 shots sent his direction, but can he keep it up on the road?

The Stars are easily a much better team at home and have shutdown the Jets' offense twice in Dallas this playoffs. Jake Oettinger has had a hell of a series, keeping the Stars on top as best he can. Now back at home, my initial faith lies with the Stars, as I have very little faith in Winnipeg away from home.

Even though the Jets' offense actually came to life in Game 5, I doubt they keep it up on the road. Winnipeg is just 26-15 on the road this year, while Dallas is 28-10-3 on their home ice. Although the Stars have not peppered the net in this series like I would hope in order to bet on them, I have much less faith in Hellebuyck and the Jets. The Winnipeg tender hasn't really strung multiple solid outings together in the playoffs yet, and I don't see him starting tonight on the road.

Back the Stars with me tonight. Time and time again, the Jets have proven they cannot defend or attack away from home. Tonight I see the Stars dominating. I do lean with the over, as I see Dallas daring their visitors to try and keep up offensively, making Hellebuyck earn his paycheck tonight.

Ultimately, the Stars are shooting more at home, taking better advantage of power play opportunities, and are limiting the chances of their opponents. When you do all of those things on the ice, good things happen, and I have no problem betting on the Stars to ride this momentum into a 60 minute win tonight, securing their date against the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Finals.

I don't hate paying the juice on the ML as well, just in case we see extra time. However, I see the Stars playing aggressive, Winnipeg having no choice but to try and keep up, leaving themselves exposed on the back end.
