We are four games into this series between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Dallas Stars, it is all tied up at 2 games a piece, and the home team has yet to win a game. Vegas took a 2-0 series lead after stealing both games in Texas, only to have the Stars do the same thing to them back home in Sin City.
Now we go back to Dallas, with the momentum on their side. Can the Stars roll into a 3rd straight win? Or will Vegas continue the series trend of road teams getting the job done?
Mark Stone has just 1 point for the Knights this playoffs
So far this series, the road team is 4-0. The Knights beat the Stars 4-3 and then 3-1 fairly easily in Dallas, but then dropped the next to at home. The Stars beat the Knights 3-2 in OT after allowing VGK to comeback and force the extra time, but then battled back after being down 2-1, to eventually steal Game 4 and even up the series.
These teams had outstanding home records during the regular season, yet can't seem to get the job done on their home ice. After starting the first four games, it looks like Logan Thompson will sit tonight, with the Knights putting Adin Hill between the posts.
Last postseason, Hill posted a 2.17 GAA and stopped over 93% of the shots he faced, leading the Knights to a Stanley Cup. This goalie switch could be what they need to jumpstart another victory and have a chance to seal the series at home in Game 6. Jake Oettinger looked incredible in Game 4, but I think we could see some fireworks in this game.
I lean with Vegas, shocking, right? But I'm not going to back them. I also lean with the over, however I will be backing that by taking a player prop, someone whose name you are all familiar with.
Mr. Marchessault is going to get a point for us tonight, and at -121 I had to get on board.
The guy has a point in 3/4 games this postseason, including 4 total points. I think he keeps that going tonight. He averages 0.77 points per playoff game in his career, but that jumps to 1.12 in his last two playoff campaigns.
He has a point in 12 of his L19 against the Stars (63%), and 6 of his L7 against the Stars in Dallas. Last year he had points in 5/6 playoff games against the Stars, he plays on the Top Line and PP, and I have no problem betting on him to contribute for the Knights tonight.
