We're blessed with four incredible matchups in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this evening. In fact, two of these series begin tonight with the other two facing off for Game 2. Have no fear, tap in below for our NHL Best Bets of the day. Let's get right to it!
The Blues and Jets go head to head for Game 2 tonight. Winnipeg had quite the 3rd period comeback in order to win the first meeting, but can they keep it up? They outshot the Blues 26-17 and won the final period by a score of 3-0 in order to win Game 1, 5-3. Connor Hellebuyck did not play up to his standard, but I think we see him revert back to his old ways this time.
The total of 5.5 being incredibly juiced to the under is also a bit of an indicator for me that we see better goaltending from both sides. Things got pretty chippy at the end as well, so it wouldn't surprise me if we see some guys spend a little extra time in the penalty box this evening. However, there were not enough shots in Game 1 to produce eight total goals, and I think the goaltending will reflect that this evening.
Ultimately, I think the Jets win again, moving on to St. Louis with a 2-0 series lead.
I'm not betting it, but I do lean with Colorado again tonight. They made very light work of the Stars in Game 1, beating them 5-1. I don't see much changing in Game 2, and the Avs have been my pick to hoist the Stanley Cup since the beginning of the playoffs. Nothing is changing now.
The Stars need Jake Oettinger to step up, and he simply didn't in Game 1. Not having Jason Robertson on the ice hurts as well, and he will miss at least another couple games of this series. Simply put, the Stars offense is not good enough to offset a bad night from their keeper, especially without Robo.
Dallas allows 29 shots on goal per game, and the Avalanche netted five with just 24 shots last matchup. I understand this is essentially a "must win" game for the Stars, as going back to Denver down 0-2 might be a death sentence. For that reason alone, I am staying off this game, but the Avalanche are hungry for a sweep and they might get it if they win tonight.
