In a back and forth race in Game One, the Carolina Hurricanes top line could not get it done. The line of Svechnikov, Aho and Jarvis looked off, unable to handle passes, unable to secure pucks on the boards and unable to find open ice. This was an outlier though, not what we should expect from this productive forward line in Game Two. And if anything, this miserable performance gives me more confidence in the bounce back tonight, and Seth Jarvis is my target for an NHL best bet.

Jarvis has never been a player who disappears when the stage gets bigger. He enjoyed a career-best regular season with 66 points in 71 games and has added eight points across 13 Stanley Cup Playoff contests on the top line. His career arc is one of consistent upward progression, and his 32-goal regular season wasn't a fluke — it was the natural result of elite shot volume meeting a high shooting percentage. And you gotta shoot to score.

Beyond the verbal wake-up call, Brind'Amour gave a tactical roadmap for what he wants to see from the line in Game 2. "They're too much one and done. They've got to get a little more offensive-zone time," Brind'Amour said, before pointing to a late shift in Game 1 as the template. "That last shift they had — that's how it needs to look." With the Hurricanes controlling matchups at Lenovo Center, Brind'Amour can put Jarvis, Aho, and Svechnikov on the ice in situations where they have favorable zone starts and can generate extended offensive pressure — exactly what he said he wants tonight. That last-change control is a direct mechanism for increasing Jarvis's shot opportunities against Vegas's weaker defensive pairings rather than exclusively eating minutes against the Eichel or Marner lines, and this bounce back is exactly why I am targeting Jarvis as an NHL best bet tonight.

The third line of Nikolaj Ehlers, Jordan Staal, and Jordan Martinook had three goals in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final and now has 20 points across the playoffs. Twenty points from what's nominally a checking line. For context, that total is approaching what Carolina's star-studded top line of Aho, Svechnikov, and Jarvis has produced across the same stretch. The advanced numbers back the eye test. The checking line of Staal and Martinook, bolstered by Ehlers, has an expected goals percentage of 70.3% at 5-on-5 — one of the most dominant possession numbers of any line remaining in the playoffs. When Staal is on the ice, Carolina doesn't just hold its own — it controls the game, and that's why his point looks like an NHL best bet tonight.

Within that line's collective success, Staal himself has been a consistent scoring contributor. He has five points — two goals and three assists — across 12 playoff games heading into the Stanley Cup Final. Game 1 punctuated that point in dramatic fashion. Down 3-2 in the second period, Staal delivered the tying goal at 12:42, bringing the Lenovo Center crowd back to life.

The biggest structural reason Staal's point prop has genuine legs is the player playing left wing beside him. Nikolaj Ehlers has been one of Carolina's most dangerous offensive weapons all postseason, and his relationship with Staal creates natural assist opportunities that simply didn't exist on previous versions of this line.

A 37-year-old captain who has waited 17 years for this moment, playing at home, on a line that's producing at an elite rate, against an opponent his coach trusts him to slow down while Ehlers creates offensive havoc beside him. That's the profile of a player who finds the scoresheet tonight, and why it's one of my favorite plus money NHL best bets.
