Preseason NFL betting odds didn't see the Cowboys as a serious Super Bowl contender, but that has changed. The Cowboys have taken control of the NFC East before the halfway point of their season and are now just +950 to win Super Bowl LVI. Only the Bills (+500), Buccaneers (+600), and Rams (+650) have better odds.

The divisional outlook is a bit different in the AFC West. With the Chiefs looking vulnerable so far, it looks like anyone could win the division. The Broncos are trying to stay in the hunt as they visit the Cowboys in Week 9.

Dallas is a heavy favorite at home. The number looks justified, especially when you compare the offenses. Can the Cowboys coast to a seventh straight win?

Denver Broncos vs Dallas Cowboys Best Bet

Dallas Cowboys -9.5

Denver is definitely in the race in the AFC West, but their hopes may have taken a hit after trading longtime sack machine Von Miller to the Rams. I am not sure of their ceiling, but I definitely know they are better with Miller than without him, especially for a team that is winning with defense.

That unit is not going to fall apart without Miller, but he was leading the team in sacks and Bradley Chubb is not back from injury just yet. If that unit falls off, it is hard to have a lot of confidence in QB Teddy Bridgewater and the offense making up the slack.

Last week it was all about whether QB Dak Prescott would be healthy enough to play against Minnesota. He missed the game, but Cooper Rush filled in admirably to lead the Cowboys to a 20-16 win. Dak is back for this one, leading one of the best offenses in the NFL. Dallas is first in yards per game and third in scoring. The defense was really good last week and has proven to be more capable than expected.

The Cowboys are going to find it harder to move the ball against the Broncos than they have against most opponents this season. Nevertheless I am confident they can have success against Denver and that their own defense will make it easy for them to win by a solid margin. Look for the Cowboys to win each half by a TD on the way to a comfortable win.

NFL Betting Prop Watch: Melvin Gordon Anytime TD Scorer (+175)

Gordon is tied for the team lead in TDs this season. He is capable of powering it in from in close and has ripped off some big runs this season. Denver is not going to score a ton, but with TE Noah Fant out, Gordon's chances of finding paydirt one way or another get even better. The positive payoffs is really good for a top RB option.
