Let’s get right into my NCAA Basketball Best Bets for Today!
Howard @ Pennsylvania
Matchup Information

- Date: Monday, December 11th, 2023

The Pick: Pennsylvania -5.5 (-110) Get a Deposit @ Bovada
Although Penn is much slower than the Howard Bison, they are much more efficient. Let’s just break down the stats.
Howard is 103rd in pace, 130th in scoring (77.4 PPG), but just 205th in FG%, shooting 44% overall as a team.
The Penn Quakers are 259th in pace, 54th in scoring (81.5 PPG), and 36th in FG%, hitting almost 49% of their shots. They also are 17th in 3s per game, knocking down over 10 per game and shooting 41% from beyond the arc.
Howard does hold their opponents to 32% from deep, but with the Quakers taking over 40% of their shots from deep, they are bound to make a few.
I think this sharp shooting Penn team is too good for the Bison’s 270th ranked defense.
The Bison will speed up this game, but I think that will simply benefit Penn by giving their efficient offense more possessions to score.

Mississippi Valley State @ Gonzaga

The Pick: MVSU/Gonzaga Over 141 (-110) Get These Odds @ Bovada
Even with Mississippi Valley State’s horrendous offensive numbers, I trust them to do enough to get this total over. They are 0-9 and the lowest scoring team in Division 1 basketball, but Gonzaga is fast enough to push this pace and force the Delta Devils to keep up.
Gonzaga could easily score 100, and with their TT sitting at 91.5, I did take a glance. However, this will be such a blowout, I do not expect them to play defense with full effort for the entire game. They should easy up on the back end while still running good sets on offense and knocking down shots.
The Zags score 86 PPG, hit 50% of their shots, and shoot 35% from deep. They crash the offensive glass like crazy, and I think they really run up the score in front of their home crowd.
Give me this game to get over assuming MVSU puts up at least 50.
Utah Tech @ CS-Northridge

The Pick: Utah Tech/CSN Over 146 (-110) Find These Odds @ Bovada
The last game on the slate, and we are rooting for points. The Utah Tech Trailblazers are already fast, but now they face the Matadors of Northridge who rank 19th in pace this season and 52nd in FG% hitting 48% of their shots.
Utah Tech shoots 44.4% themselves and ranks 42nd in 3P% knocking down 7 3s a game at 38% from deep. Cal State Northridge allows over 41% of shots to be from beyond the arc, so the Trailblazers could get streaky from deep to help this over.
The Matadors are incredibly good at offensive rebounding, creating over 13 extra possessions per game ranking 15th in the country.
As the pace of these teams increases, so do their turnovers. Both are bottom 20 in TO/game, combining for nearly 30 each time they step on the court. Sloppy play could lead to easy layups against these poor defenses.
