Rockies vs. Nationals: The system is officially here as Antonio Senzatela takes the mound. After three months of tracking his starts, it is clear he is one of the most fade-worthy pitchers in baseball. Every matchup is different, but the value remains consistent. Today, we are locking in the Nationals first five as the latest system play.

The system play has arrived. After three months of entertainment from Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela, it is time to back the system whenever he takes the mound. The approach may shift depending on the matchup, but we will always chase the value. Today, we are fading the struggling right-hander and backing the Nationals in the first five innings.
Let us break down Senzatela's numbers. Through 14 starts, he is allowing 4.2 runs, 7.8 hits, and 2.2 extra-base hits per outing. He is also giving up 1.64 home runs per nine innings. Opponents are crushing him—.373 average, .418 on-base percentage, .566 slugging, and .984 OPS. Left-handed hitters have been especially dominant, posting a .405 average, .452 OBP, .575 SLG, and 1.027 OPS.
The 30-year-old enters today with a poor rating on Batters-Box, along with weak marks in wOBA, ISO, hard contact rate, and strikeout percentage. He faces a Nationals lineup featuring one elite-rated hitter in James Wood, eight bats above the league ground ball rate, and none with poor ratings or elevated strikeout risk. Washington is averaging 2.41 runs in the first five innings, while Colorado sits at just 1.87 on the road.
Mike Soroka gets the ball for the Nats. While he has struggled, he has been better at home, posting a 3.71 ERA through three starts with opponents hitting just .197 against him in those games. Even with Soroka's poor ratings today, I am trusting the Nationals bats to wake up against a pitcher who might as well be throwing batting practice.
