Tonight starts the first of a 4-game series between the Angels and Athletics at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. This will be the 2nd series this season between the AL West foes. Jose Soriano takes the bump for the Halos while Gage Jump gets the ball for the A's. Let's dive into my best MLB pick for tonight's matchup.
Los Angeles Angeles vs Athletics MLB Betting Insights
As previously mentioned this will be the second series this season between the Angels and A's. These two teams squared off in a very competitive 4-game series in Anaheim last month. Three of the four game in the series were decided by one run with the A's winning both of their one-run games in extra innings.
It's been another disappointing season for the Angels who find themselves at 30-45 and yet again looking like they are going to miss the playoffs for the 13th straight season. The A's on the other hand have been hovering around .500 just about all season. They currently trail the Mariners by 1.5 games in the AL West standings. This could be a big series for the A's, as they look to gain ground on Seattle in the division.
With Jose Soriano on the mound tonight for Los Angeles, on paper, this will be the toughest game of the four, for the A's to win in the series.

Jose Soriano looks to continue his impressive season
Angels vs Athletics Prediction: Angels Win
An under at Sutter Health Park? Definitely have to have some stones to bet that. Not only do I like the under, I like the Angeles as underdogs tonight as well. The reason being: Jose Soriano.
The Angeles right hander has been dominant this season. He is 8-4 with a 2.79 era and has 92 strikeouts on the year. All of those numbers are Top 15 in baseball. When you dive even deeper into Soriano's season your realize just how good he has been when facing teams not named the Dodgers.
Soriano has made 15 starts this season and has only given up 4 ER or more in 3 of those starts. Two of them came against the two-time world series champions. Outside of facing the Dodgers he has been sensational. His first 6 starts of the season he gave up 1 ER in 37.2 IP. ONE EARNED RUN. Since then he has become a little more human, but none the less very good. In his last 9 starts after that incredible run he has pitched at least 5 innings in 8 of his starts and has given up 3 ER or fewer in six of the nine games.
He faced this Athletics offense back on May 21st and was solid. 6.2 IP, giving up six hits, 2 earned runs, and 7 strikeouts. The Angels have won the last two games that Soriano has started against two of the top teams in baseball, the Dodgers and Rays. He also threw his first shutout in his last start since that dominant stretch at the beginning of the season in April.
If the books are giving me Jose Soriano as an underdog vs a team below .500 I'm going to take it. And even pitching in Sutter Health Park I'm taking the under too at 10 especially since his counterpart Gage Jump has also been good to start the year with a 3.09 era in 23.1 IP.
