Another day, another matchup where you do not need to worry about a side or a total. We are simply backing the New York Yankees bats and taking the over 14.5 on their total bases prop.
The Yankees offense has been piling up bases all season, ranked second overall with an average of 15.83 per game. Cleveland, on the other hand, has allowed the sixth most total bases on the road, giving up 14.10 per game.
Today, New York faces Guardians starter Luis Ortiz, who holds a poor rating on Batters-Box. He ranks poorly in average hitter matchup ISO, hard contact, and strikeout percentage. On the road this season, Ortiz has struggled mightily with a 6.39 ERA and a .280 opponent batting average. He is allowing five hits and 1.5 extra-base hits per start.
The Yankees lineup features four elite rated hitters, two great, one above the league strikeout rate, and three above the league ground ball rate. I have had my eye on Ortiz all season, actively looking for ways to fade him. Backing the Yankees offense feels like the right move. With Aaron Judge, Ben Rice, Jazz Chisholm, and Austin Wells all in elite matchups, 14.5 total bases seems very doable.
