The 2024 Paris Olympics came and went in the blink of an eye, but holy cow, we have quite a month of competition. Whether is was on the track, field, court, in the pool or happening at any other sort of venue, we saw some incredible individual and team accomplishments across the various sports. US Men’s & Women’s Basketball Wins Gold
Steph Curry went off in the final few minutes of the Gold Medal game against France, knocking down several dagger threes, including this one over Victor Wembanyama. The United States capped off a very dominant tournament run, with a 9 point victory in the final. This was the 5th straight Gold Medal for Team USA in Men’s Basketball.
The Women’s team also took home the Gold, also beating the hosts in the final game.
Quincy Hall Wins 400m Gold in Epic Comeback
Quincy Hall won the Men’s 400m Dash, taking home the Gold for the US for the first time since 2008. The craziest part was 350 meters through the race, he was several strides behind and even fell to 4th place. Hall miraculously made the stretch and fell for the Gold at the finish line.
Noah Lyles Wins 100m Dash at Photo Finish
In another incredible comeback, Noah Lyles took home the 100m Dash after verification via a photo finish. Lyles found himself in 8th place with just 50 meters to go, boosting forward to claim the top of the podium. Unfortunately, Lyles took home the bronze in the 200m dash a couple days later.
Novak Djokovic Becomes 5th Player to Complete Grand Slam
The Serbian became just the 5th person in history to complete the career Grand Slam, winning all four major tournaments and Gold at the Olympics. Djokovic defeated Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets to win the Gold.
USWNT Wins Gold for First Time Since 2012
The United States Women’s Soccer team won their first Gold Medal since the 2012 Olympics this year in Paris. This was many player’s first time representing the country at the Olympic games, and after a disappointing World Cup, they proved to still have plenty of talent and grit.
