Ontario's iGaming market hit a record $425.4 million in December revenue. This surge pushed the province's total 2025 earnings past $4 billion.

The latest figures from iGaming Ontario show that the province's competitive gaming market continued to expand in both activity and earnings. Its strong finish reflects robust demand across Canada online casinos and Canada online sportsbooks as both verticals contributed to a year of unprecedented growth.

What Records Did Ontario Online Gambling Revenue Set for 2025?

Ontario's regulated iGaming market generated more than $4 billion in revenue during the full 2025 calendar year, marking a new high for the province. Operators handled nearly $98.3 billion in total wagers, representing a significant increase from previous years.

As a result of these strong results, provincial tax intake from iGaming is estimated at roughly $807 million in 2025, with the operators collectively retaining around $3.2 billion.

While iGaming Ontario does not disclose specific revenue-share details in its public reports, those figures underscore the rapid expansion of the regulated market. Since Ontario launched its regulated Canada online casinos and sports betting framework in April 2022, total operator revenue has now surpassed $10.2 billion, yielding approximately $2.04 billion in total tax revenue for the province.

The strong annual performance further cements Ontario's position as one of North America's most active and competitive markets for online gambling. Both Canada online casinos and Canada online sportsbooks contributed to the growth trend, with casino games dominating handle and sportsbooks posting notable gains in wagering activity.

December 2025: A Multi-Record Month

December 2025 stood out as a landmark month for Ontario's iGaming industry. Total wagers reached $9.5 billion, while the $425.4 million in revenue marked the highest monthly gross gaming revenue (GGR) since regulated iGaming began in the province.

Online Casinos Lead in December

Canada online casino gaming continued to dominate in December. Of the $9.5 billion in total handle, almost $8.3 billion (87%) came from online casino gaming, demonstrating sustained consumer demand for slots, table games, and live dealer offerings through the year.

That percentage share never fell below 83% during 2025 and peaked at 89% in the summer months.

Canada Online Sportsbooks Post Strong Figures

Canada online sportsbooks also turned in robust results for December 2025. Ontario bettors contributed to approximately $1 billion in wager handle for the month, representing about 11% of the total market handle.

While smaller relative to the casino vertical, this figure highlights growing participation in sports betting as part of the broader iGaming ecosystem.

Outlook: More Growth and Greater Choices in 2026

Looking ahead, the Ontario iGaming market appears poised for further expansion. Analysts and industry insiders say that 2026 could see additional operators enter Ontario's regulated iGaming sector, offering even more options for residents.

New licenses and brand entries are expected as the province continues to attract interest from both established and emerging operators.

With ongoing growth in Canada online casinos and Canada online sportsbooks, 2026 may set new benchmarks for revenue and player engagement. These trends suggest that Ontario's regulated iGaming market will remain a key driver of economic activity and consumer interest in Canada's gaming landscape.
